Samsung Galaxy A27 debuts with punch-hole display, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and six years of Android updates
Samsung has launched a new Galaxy A series phone globally and in India. The Galaxy A27 5G brings a notable design refresh and several hardware upgrades over its predecessor. The new mid-range smartphone has been introduced in global markets alongside its India debut, where it will go on sale from July 3rd.
While Samsung is yet to reveal India pricing, the Galaxy A27 5G starts at $349.99 (Rs 33,200 approx) in the US, which could put the phone in the sub-Rs 340,000 segment in India.
Samsung Galaxy A27: what’s new
One of the biggest changes this year is right on the front. Samsung has finally ditched the dated waterdrop notch seen on the Galaxy A26 5G in favour of a modern punch-hole display, giving the Galaxy A27 5G a cleaner and more premium appearance. The slimmer bezels further enhance the overall look, making the device feel closer to Samsung’s higher-end Galaxy A and S series smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy A27 specifications
The Galaxy A27 5G sports a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a 120Hz refresh rate. While the screen size remains generous for content consumption and gaming, the high refresh rate should make scrolling, animations and supported games noticeably smoother. Powering the smartphone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, built on a 4nm process. Samsung pairs the chipset with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage, with support for microSD cards up to 2TB. The chipset might seem slower compared to what rivals are offering, but it should comfortably handle multitasking, casual gaming and everyday productivity.
On the software front, the Galaxy A27 ships with Android 16-based One UI 8.5 out of the box. The company also promises six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, along with six years of security updates. This is among the strongest software policies in the mid-range segment and significantly improves the phone’s long-term value.
For photography, the Galaxy A27 5G features a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50MP primary camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), a 5MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front, Samsung has equipped the device with a 12MP selfie camera for photos and video calls. The handset packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W wired fast charging. This battery capacity is quite modest compared to brands offering around 6,000mAh to 7,000mAh as the standard.
Samsung is also bringing several AI-powered features to the Galaxy A27 5G. These include Circle to Search, Object Eraser and Voice Transcription, while users can choose between multiple AI assistants, including Google Gemini, Perplexity and Samsung’s own Bixby. On the security front, the phone retains Samsung Knox Vault, offering hardware-backed protection for sensitive information. The handset is also IP64-rated for dust and splash resistance.
Based on the specifications, the Galaxy A27 5G appears to be a meaningful upgrade over last year’s Galaxy A26 5G, especially in terms of its refreshed punch-hole design, newer Snapdragon chipset and industry-leading software support. While the battery capacity remains fairly modest, Samsung continues to play to its strengths with a vibrant AMOLED display, dependable software experience, long update commitment and Knox security. The smartphone could be a good option for those who prioritise software longevity, premium design and a reliable everyday smartphone experience over raw performance or ultra-fast charging.
