Samsung has officially confirmed that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on July 22nd in London, where the company is expected to unveil its next generation of foldable smartphones and smartwatches. While the company hasn’t confirmed the products that will be launched, recent leaks and the timing points to the debut of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and the Galaxy Watch 9 series.

The event will be livestreamed at 9 am ET (6.30 pm IST) on Samsung’s official website, Newsroom, and YouTube channel. Samsung has also opened pre-reservations for its upcoming Galaxy devices in select markets ahead of the launch.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8/Flip 8 launch date

As is usually the case, the company hasn’t revealed any product names or specifications ahead of launch. Samsung’s invitation confirms only the date and venue of the event, while teasing “new form factors” and “more personal, adaptive experiences.”

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rumoured to arrive with a wider design, featuring a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.8-inch inner screen. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, meanwhile, is tipped to succeed last year’s flagship with a new Snapdragon chipset, a 200MP primary camera, and a less visible crease. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is also expected to retain a familiar design while offering upgraded hardware and display refinements.

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked: what to expect

Apart from its foldables, Samsung is expected to refresh its smartwatch lineup with the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Leaks suggest both models will bring upgrades, including new health-tracking features, small design tweaks, and software improvements. Reports also indicate Samsung may skip launching a new Galaxy Watch Classic this year.

The event could also mark the debut of Samsung’s long-rumoured AI-powered smart glasses. Expected to be called Galaxy Glasses, the wearable is said to focus on AI-powered assistance through Google Gemini, using built-in cameras and voice interactions instead of offering a full augmented reality experience.

How to pre-reserve

Samsung has opened pre-reservations for its upcoming Galaxy devices ahead of the July 22nd event. Customers can reserve a device through Samsung’s official website in eligible markets to receive launch-day benefits, including trade-in offers, exclusive discounts and other promotional deals, depending on the region. In India, you can purchase a #Next Galaxy VIP Pass for Rs 999 to get a voucher worth Rs 2,799 and more undeclared benefits. The other option is to register for free where users get a chance to enter giveaways and win daily vouchers worth Rs 5,000.

Samsung’s announcement of the Unpacked launch event in July solidifies an early-mover advantage for the company in the wide foldable segment, as Apple is rumoured to launch its long-speculated iPhone Ultra this September. Samsung will likely bank on updated hardware and new AI features to gain an upper hand. However, Huawei has already launched a wide foldable named the Pura X Max in China this year, though it’s yet to go mainstream. Users looking for a phablet may wait and see what Samsung has up its sleeve.
