Vivo T5x’s specifications at a glance
The Vivo T5x runs on the 4nm-based MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Turbo (paired with UFS 3.1), the same chipset that has powered multiple midrange offerings under Rs 20,000 last year, including the Moto G86 Power, Realme P4, and Vivo’s own T4R. The “Turbo” moniker suggests specific optimisations made to the chipset, in partnership with MediaTek, to extract better performance from the processor. Vivo claims the phone can achieve over 10,00,000 score on AnTuTu.
Up front, the Vivo T5x sports a 6.76-inch LCD display with an FHD+ (2344 x 1080) resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,300 nits of brightness. Despite the price bump from the Vivo T4x, the handset retains an LCD panel, which could be done to compensate for its massive battery and a decent midrange processor.
Coming to the star of the show, just like the recently released iQOO Z11x, the Vivo T5x gains a huge 7,200mAh battery along with 44W charging. Per Vivo, the battery can last for up to 40 hours in video playback and over 15 hours when playing BGMI. Apart from that, the phone also supports reverse wired charging to juice up other devices using a type-C cable.
As for the cameras, the T5x gets a 50MP primary and a 2MP depth camera at the rear, while the front circular camera cutout houses a 32MP selfie unit. Both cameras are capable of capturing videos in up to 4K resolution, making it an ideal device for those who are into content creation and vlogging.
Other key hardware features of the Vivo T5x include an IR blaster for controlling home appliances right from the smartphone and a stereo speaker setup with up to 400 percent volume boost.
As for the software, the smartphone runs on OriginOS 6, Vivo’s overhauled successor of the outgoing Funtouch OS 15. Based on Android 16, the T5x gains several productivity and AI features, such as Office Kit for easy file transfers from PC to phone and vice versa and AI Creation that generates text, summaries, and proofreads all types of content. The phone is set to receive two OS upgrades and four years of security patch updates.
Should you wait for the Vivo T5x’s sale?
Releasing on March 24th on Flipkart, the Vivo T5x could stand as a viable option for those seeking a smartphone that lasts considerably long on a single charge, say a couple of days on casual use, and reliable hardware that not only gets the basic tasks done, but also aids in a decent gaming experience.
On the other hand, while stereo speakers are in tow, the T5x may not provide as great contrast tones and deep blacks as its AMOLED counterparts, such as the Realme P4, due to an LCD panel. However, if you’re already habitual of LCD displays, this shouldn’t be a major caveat for you.
