Vivo appears ready to refresh its popular V lineup once again, and this time the upgrade could be more meaningful than usual. The upcoming Vivo V70 lineup could feature four models with two new members: V70 FE 5G and V70 Lite. The new smartphones will succeed last year’s V60 series, with the launch reportedly taking place in India by mid-February, according to a report by SmartPrix.
The report adds that Vivo is bringing together expertise from Zeiss, Sony, its own imaging team, and Qualcomm in a way that the V series hasn’t seen before. The result is expected to be a far stronger emphasis on optics, with Zeiss lens tuning paired with Sony’s larger sensors to improve light capture and clarity, especially in challenging lighting conditions. The Vivo V60 did not impress us with its low-light photography, but this could change with the V70.
This shift also reflects a broader industry trend. Brands are now stacking hardware, optics, and AI processing to blur the gap between flagships and upper-midrange devices. Vivo is said to back the new camera hardware with its proprietary AI image-processing algorithms, aiming to deliver consistent results across portraits, night shots, and everyday photography.
On the software side, the V70 series is expected to debut with OriginOS 6, making it the first V-series generation to ship with the new interface out of the box. Compared to Funtouch OS, OriginOS 6 feels quicker and more polished, with smoother animations that make the interface feel more refined. The V70 Elite variant is also tipped to feature Qualcomm’s most powerful chipset yet on a V-series phone, suggesting a focus on performance. These upgrades could also signal an increased price range for the Vivo V70 series, especially with the ongoing trend in all new phones.
If you were considering the V60 series primarily for its portraits and sleek design, the V70 series could be worth holding out for, especially if photography is a top priority. On the other hand, those who value raw performance and a fresher software experience may find the V70 Elite particularly appealing, as it looks set to bridge the gap between mid-premium phones and true flagships.
