Vivo’s latest flagship smartphone series has already made its global debut, and the company is now preparing to bring the lineup to India. The Vivo X500 series, comprising the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, has reportedly started appearing in the company’s India teasers and tipster Debayan Roy has tipped November 25th as the tentative launch date. This will also mark the debut of the first Pro Max model in Vivo’s X-series lineup, much like OPPO this year and Xiaomi last year, which adopted the moniker after Apple’s famed top-end iPhone variant.
Vivo X500 series India launch details
Reports suggest the Vivo X500 series will launch in India by the end of November, and we now have a tentative date as well. Tipster Debayan Roy tweeted on X that the X500 series will launch on November 25. But there has been no official word on this yet, so it would be wise to take this with a pinch of salt.
Vivo X500 series specifications and features
The standard Vivo X500 features a 6.59-inch 1.5K 144Hz OLED display and the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9600M chipset, which is essentially last year’s Dimensity 9500 only. Its triple rear camera setup comprises a 50MP Sony LYT-828 primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 64MP Sony LYT-610 3x telephoto camera. The phone packs a 7,500mAh battery globally (China has 7,500mAh) with 90W wired and 40W wireless charging.
The Vivo X500 Pro gets a smaller 6.36-inch 1.5K 144Hz LTPO OLED display and the 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset. Its cameras include a 50MP Sony LYT-910 primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 64MP 3.5x periscope telephoto camera. It also features a 6,510mAh battery.
The addition of the X500 Pro Max is noteworthy, as it introduces a new top-tier variant in the series, which adds on but doesn’t replace the ‘Ultra’ model, which is expected to come later. This model also brings the most advanced telephoto camera hardware in the lineup. The top-end Vivo X500 Pro Max features a larger 6.85-inch 2K 144Hz LTPO OLED display, the same Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset and an 8,000mAh battery in China. The global variant, however, gets a slightly smaller 7,800mAh battery. Its camera system includes a 50MP Sony LYT-910 main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 200MP Samsung HP0 periscope telephoto camera with Zeiss APO optics.
All three models support 90W wired and 40W wireless charging, along with IP68 and IP69 ratings and the Zeiss G2 teleconverter.
The Chinese prices of the three models translate to approximately Rs 79,000 for the X500, Rs 93,000 for the X500 Pro and Rs 1 lakh for the X500 Pro Max. These are direct currency conversions and should not be mistaken for expected India prices. The lineup will compete with the OPPO Find X10 series, which also uses MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9600 chipsets and places considerable emphasis on camera hardware.
However, the OPPO Find X10 starts at Rs 1,39,999 in India, while the Find X10 Pro Max costs Rs 1,99,999. This gives Vivo an opportunity to attract premium smartphone buyers, provided it can price it more competitively. The X500 Pro Max could appeal to those prioritising telephoto photography, while the smaller X500 Pro offers a more compact alternative without compromising on the primary camera hardware.
