Xiaomi has introduced two new smartphones in its 17 series in Europe, the 17T and 17T Pro, both positioned below the standard Xiaomi 17 (review) launched earlier this year in India. The Xiaomi 17T is the more affordable of the two, yet still carries Leica-branded camera hardware, while the Pro variant adds a more powerful chipset, a larger battery, and additional upgrades. The Xiaomi 17T is set to launch in India on June 4th, while the 17T Pro does not yet have an official release date.

Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro price in Europe

The Xiaomi 17T has been launched with a starting price of Euro 749 (~Rs 83,400), while the Xiaomi 17T Pro costs Euro (~Rs 1,00,000). Both smartphones come in different colourways. The Xiaomi 17T is available in four colourways: black, violet, blue and opal white, whereas the Xiaomi 17T Pro comes in Black, Deep Blue and Deep Violet colour options.

Xiaomi 17T specifications

The Xiaomi 17T’s cameras remain its strong aspect. The smartphone features a triple rear camera setup, comprising a 50MP Light Fusion 800 main camera, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The telephoto lens zoom is higher than that of the more expensive Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra. Users can expect sharper long-range shots, improved portrait photography, and flexible framing options across different lighting scenarios.

Furthermore, the cameras are backed by the “Leica Complete Camera system” and offer a focal range stretching from 15mm to 115mm with its 0.6x to 5x optical zoom. Xiaomi is also bringing creative shooting modes like Silhouette, Flame, and Fireworks to the smartphone to widen the appeal among mobile photographers. Up front, the Xiaomi 17T sports a 32MP sensor for selfies and video calling. For video recording, the Xiaomi 17T supports 4K 60fps HDR10 recording with optical image stabilisation.

At the core of the Xiaomi 17T lies the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, paired with Xiaomi’s Surge T1 Plus and T1S chips. The company has also equipped the device with a 3D Ice Loop cooling system, which should help maintain stable performance during extended gaming sessions, 4K video recording, or multitasking. Xiaomi additionally claims the handset supports Astro Communication, enabling offline connectivity over distances of up to 1.3 kilometres in select scenarios.

The handset sports a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, HDR10+ support, Dolby Vision, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, 120Hz refresh rate, and 3,500 nits peak brightness. The display size doesn’t make the Xiaomi 17T the most compact smartphone out there, but it seems convenient for single-handed usage.

The smartphone houses a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, larger than that of the Xiaomi 17, with 67W fast charging. Despite the battery size, the handset weighs around 200 grams, which is relatively manageable for everyday usage. Software-wise, the smartphone runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3 out of the box, which offers several ecosystem-focused features, including iPhone integration, AirPods support, and Xiaomi’s enhanced Hyper Island functionality.

Xiaomi 17T Pro specifications

The Xiaomi 17T Pro attempts to amplify the experience with a flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC. The smartphone also sports a bigger 6.83-inch AMOLED display with up to 144Hz refresh rate, which might make it an appealing buy for mobile gamers. To back that up, the handset features a 7,000mAh battery with improved 100W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro camera setup may remain identical to the vanilla Xiaomi 17T, with a 50MP primary sensor, 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP 5x telephoto lens. That said, Xiaomi has swapped the primary sensor for a flagship Light Fusion 950, which is identical to the Xiaomi 17, for the Pro model. This should give the smartphone an edge over the Xiaomi 17T, capturing superior details.

The other aspects of the smartphones remain pretty much the same as the Xiaomi 17T, including the IP68/IP69 rated water and dust resistance design, squarish camera deco, flat edges, and more.

Overall, the Xiaomi 17T series appears to target users looking for a flagship-like camera experience without stepping into the flagship pricing territory. Its combination of a versatile Leica-backed camera setup, large battery, premium display, and creator-focused features could make it one of the more well-rounded sub-flagship smartphones in the market and worth waiting for. The India launch of the Xiaomi 17T is happening next month, so stay tuned to 91mobiles for its India price, availability, and other details.
