Following the launch of the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 series in multiple countries, including India, it appears that Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its 17T series much earlier than usual. A fresh Geekbench AI listing has popped up, indicating the launch could be nearby. The listing also reveals one of the phone’s processors, along with the numbers the device has achieved in the Geekbench AI test. Let’s take a look at what’s known about the Xiaomi 17T series so far.
The Geekbench AI listing (via @yabhishekhd on X) states the Xiaomi 17T’s model number as 2602DPT53G, which is the same number previously sighted on various certifications. The listing goes on to reveal that the Xiaomi 17T will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset, featuring a prime core clocked at 3.40GHz, three performance cores at 3.20GHz, four efficiency cores at 2.20GHz, and a Mali-G720 MC8 GPU.

The listing also shows 12GB of RAM and Android 16 (most likely running HyperOS 3 on top). This early appearance on Geekbench usually means the launch isn’t far off. Interestingly, Xiaomi is breaking its own tradition this year as the T series has typically arrived around September over the years, but both the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro are now expected to land in the second quarter of 2026, roughly four months ahead of schedule.
Since the Xiaomi 17T could utilise the Dimensity 8500, the 17T Pro may feature a more advanced chipset from the Dimensity 9000 series, such as the Dimensity 9500 or Dimensity 9500s. For context, the Xiaomi 15T ran on the Dimensity 8400 Ultra, while the 15T Pro was backed by the flagship-grade Dimensity 9400+.
On the specs front, the standard 17T is rumoured to come with a 6.59-inch flat OLED display with 1.5K resolution, a large 7,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging, a 32MP selfie camera, and a triple rear camera setup headlined by a 50MP main sensor. The Pro variant is expected to carry similar specifications, with the exception that it may feature a robust rear camera setup by including a periscope lens. Both phones may run on Android 16-based HyperOS 3, possibly with four OS upgrades or more assured.
Overall, the Xiaomi 17T looks like it’s shaping up to be a solid mid-range performer with flagship-level ambitions in some areas, such as performance thanks to the Dimensity 8500. Considering the T series has never made its way to India in a long while, it’s likely the Xiaomi 17T series may not debut here either. The Xiaomi ‘T’ series attraction point, as of late, has been LEICA-style photography, where the phones carry similar filters and film simulation modes as the flagship number series.
This puts Xiaomi in a strong competitive position against Vivo and OPPO, both of which are offering ZEISS and Hasselblad-tuned cameras, respectively, in the upper mid-range segment, such as the Vivo X300 FE and OPPO Find X9s.
Since the T series is generally positioned lower than the number series, in this case, the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Pro, this allows Xiaomi to deliver a particular photography experience at more accessible price points. Therefore, even if the Xiaomi 17T series may fall a tad short on performance compared to the all-out flagships, it could certainly carve its way into the hands of niche users who’re into photography and content creation.
