GREAT

Bought it in a different shop which offered free items through cash back though only to send broken item without any care whatsoever. China was always a civilisation obsessed with high productivity and exports. Earlier, it was gun powder, tea, silk and paper. Now its computer hardware and electronic items. Lenova, the chineese firm that took over Thinkpad series promised to deliver the same high quality build. Hopefully it remains so. Fifth gen Core I5 processors are used. However, graphics unit is of the lowest HD5500. It would have been nice if they had used higher end Core I5 processor in which case better graphics unit would have been available (like those of Intel Iris series). Unfortunately except for Apple, none uses the higher end processors with better intel gpu. Instead all manufacturers prefer lowest Core I5 or Core I7 processor consuming least power. They usually combine it with the separate 2gb AMD or Nvida graphics chip if better graphics is needed. I would prefer better intel graphics options. Best thing about the notebook is IT DOES NOT HAVE DVD WRITER. In a world of blu ray discs with 100 gb capacity when digital cameras take 64 gb cards and chineese mobile phones gulp 128 gb cards, is a 8gb dual layered dvd relevant at all? I leave it up to you to decide if its a deal breaker for you. Most surprising thing however is that only one os fully supports Bluray discs with good software apps. Yet pc laptop manufacturers have not used bluray as a major selling point as no other os support it. Wonder why? Definitely not due to costs because when pc laptops decide on bluray, prices will automatically dwindle because the volumesof their sales is so phenomenally enormous (90% of the world). Then why not blu ray in every pc laptop? I honestly cannot fathom the reason. Improvements I made were replace the harddisk with ssd. Performance gain if any is only marginal and not astounding as people say in internet. However, ssd from sandisk arrive with 10 year replacement guarantee. Thats great as laptop hard disks may not last so long. I also replaced 4gb x1 memory with 16 gb (2 x 8gb) memory at 2100 Mhz though it would have been scaled down to operate at 1600 Mhz. Keyboard is truly great. INCOMPARABLE. KEYS ARE LARGE AND CHICLET. 14” screen is much smaller and frankly i cannot believe that 1.6” could make such difference. Had I known, i would have preferred 15.6” itself. So pls check in showroom. Resolution in mine is usual approx. - 1366 x 768 px - the usual one. I bought it without OS and installed Linux downloaded free from net. I would have preferred Apple instead but expensive though worthy of every penny charged.
