Lenovo essential G500 (59-382995) Laptop (Core i3 3rd Gen/4 GB/500 GB/Windows 8/2)

I bought it from local market 5 days ago, there was no delivery service from flipkart in my are. Lappy is really good, found no cons yet. It never really heats up. Props: Boots up really fast, it's got a special shutdown algo so that it can start up faster. No noise. Sound quality good, speaker is located in the bottom part so sound get diminished a little. 2 GB graphics is good, i never played any games though. Touchpad is really nice, you will get a whole lot of gesture support. All drivers are in the hard drive. I can promise you you will never see another laptop as slim as this, which has got a dvd writter. Cons: The windows 8 comes with a 30 days trial macfee antivirus and same trialed office13. You will not be able to use 22GB of your hard disk, because it is used by some recovery software it has got. Until and unless you format your whole hard disk and get your own OS.

Flipkart is always good with the delivery schedule. HOWEVER, this time around the delivery was at Super-Sonic speed. Ordered 06.23PM in the evening and was delivered at noon next day itself. One Complaint=> I had ordered it to be gift wrapped but there was no gift wrap found. Boxing was good. Pros- - Awesome slim design. In this price bracket other laps dont seem to have such slim shape. -Doesnt heat up. -Boots up real quick. My prev one with i3 was way slower. 4GB Ram, again at this price is a -big+! - NVIDIA GEforce, again, at this price, is a steal! No other brand is offering this graphic card. - Texture and design (mine is black) looks cool. - Build quality is just about okay. - Touch pad is centered well (Thanks god!). I dont see the logic in left sided touchpads. - LOT of room to rest your wrists and palms as keyboard is decently far away from the edges. This is a boon, particularly if you have a carpal tunnel syn like me. - Again, official Win8 comes preinstalled. Other brands mostly have DOS at this price. - Very light weight and easy to carry. - Bt 4. - Dolby Sound quite sufficient in clarity and volume height. - Battery looks decent. Havent tested that much yet. CONS- - Power sink should always be at the back. This model has it at the side. Undesired because it could heat up the power cable. - Keys are a little on the delicate side. - Touch pad keys are rigid. My old Y510 had better. - WIN 8 SUCKS! I dont like Win 8 at all. Maybe this is just a primary feeling; might get used to it. - Only 3 USB Ports. At least 5 desired. - Win 8 is very very boring to use. - No toggle for wifi and bt. They come in very very handy. - Win 8 gives me a bad temper. - Optical drive is a little clanky but that should get smooth over time. - Win 8 belongs to Vietnam roulette players. - Card reader does not have a dummy card. No card means something (dust) can crawl up in there. - Win 8 is designed so that you feel like a fool trying to find the shutdown button. Overall a very good laptop to buy. Happy with my purchase. A very definite thing that made tipped this in my favor was 4gb ddr3 and the nvidia 2gb graphic card. No other brand is offering these at this level. Win 8 belongs to the dust bin.
