Super Config with Super Heat

Guys,nnLet me put my experience very quickly.nnI have ordered considering this is the best configuration with best price. But believe me it generates heat like anything in the touch pad area.nnThough it has 1 year onsite (plus 2 years carry in) warranty, Lenovo people is not ready to visit though the service centre is just 2 km away.nnSo, I had to fight with FlipKart executives a lot, because they declined to replace. After so much of frustration, got the replacement.nnBut wait! it's not over yet. The heat still generates. This time FlipKart agreed to refund the money but they want JobSheet from Lenovo saying there's a heating issue.nnLenovo still not ready to come my home, so I had to carry in. They inspected and found they are is a chip which generates heat, but there's no ventilation given BY DESIGN. If you want to use, you can use with a cooling pad.nnWhat a hell!!! People is not ready to use laptop at all (instead go for tabs), in this generation I have to carry laptop and wherever I go, I have to carry cooling pad too???nnI am using two-DELL 6400 and one-E6430 (top end configuration like i7, SSD, etc) for the last 4 years so I know what's tolerable heat!nnSo, I am going to initiate the return of the replaced the laptop too!!!nnLenovo's new design and FlipKart's new attitude messed me up!

Reviewing the G500s...

As someone said earlier, the specs look pretty attractive; but are they really upto the mark??nFirst of all, I didn't buy this system; but my friend has bought this from a local retailer...nNow, making it short, here are the PROs and CONs:nn--- PROs ---n1. CPU_3rd Gen_i5 (Smooth and well-perfomer at multi-tasking)n2. B75 Express Chipset ( Business class Chipset with Intel Anti-Theft Technology in BIOS)n3. 8 GiB RAM ( with one unused slot, to count )n4. 1 TB HDD ( 5400 rpm is slower as it is less power-consuming )n5. DOLBY Audio Enhancern6. 3 Years Warranty ( Lenovo Service centers are easily available)n7. The PRICE TAG (40k bucks are good deal for gaming systems)nn--- CONs---n1. B75 chipset cannot be overclocked ( A drawback for hardcore gamers, who actually know about OverClocking )n2. Free DOS ( Which means NO RECOVERY DRIVE from the manufacturer, in the cases when u need to factory reset! nThis is a major disadvantage, although most people don't know it and say that Free DOS can be customized any way u want !!! )n3. HD LED Display ( I doubt if it's LED, poor colour output, no enhancement options for the RGB mixture; also the view-angles and sunlight readability is bad)n4. Nvidia GT 720M ( It is based on the same old Fermi architecture and almost similar to GT 635M GPU and does not support SLI. To say in some familiar words, I had around 18-22 fps while playing Battlefield 3 or MoH-Warfighter at high settings and was irritated while playing Crysis 3 at high settings...irritated due to bloody 13 fps max.) :OnI included this in CONs because I think they could have provided a GT 630M instead and with about 2k bucks reduced!! n5. Poor Mousepad/Pointing Device ( Low sensitivity )nnBesides these the Design of system looks very common ( just too much of simplicity ), the texture finish and keyboard are however attractive and fun to play with.nnThe final decision has to be yours ofcourse, but I would suggest you to go for an ASUS K55 series system which has similar specs; yet greater performance.nnAnd for your guidance, know that the motherboards and graphic-cards/GPUs are developed by ASUS and used by companies such as DELL, HP, Samsung. etc..except ALIENWARE ofc ) :Pnn**Not all the models of K55 series are shown on Flippy or on Asus website, so better to consult a local retailer**

Lenevo Essential s G500

I had heard a lot about Flipcart. I searched their websiteand this product looked good. n I ordered it, got this product a week later than the date promised and that to after several emails and telephone calls to their call centre. I must mention that I am put up in Banaglore which is their operational headquarter as well.nI wonder if the reviews written on the net are genuine or they are paid/influenced.nI got this product on 27th Aug (promised date was 20th Aug) this product has a faulty keyboard. I informed this to Flipcart on the same day (27 Aug). Till date I have not received the replacement. Whenever I call/email them they tell me someone will call me and they promise me a date for replacement which has not come till now.nI think I did a mistake that I bought the product from Flipcart. I will wait for 2 or 3 more days and if the service is like this I will approach consumer court for sure.nIt’s pathetic that we don’t have good online buying sites in India. I think from now on I should restrict myself to buying such product from company owned store rather than websites like this.

Lenovo G500s Value for Money

Bought this amazing laptop on 1st August, FK delivered on 5th Aug. Not upto FK standards as the parcel was dispatched from within city. nnBought through Citibank Emi with Cashback 10% so got it better than the market price i guess.along with backpak and Got Logitech Wireless Mouse free as well. :)nnThe configuration is best at the given price. superb display, fast performance, no lag as of now. I installed Windows 7 64-bit. its working fine, but drivers need to be installed separately, a tedious one time process. but no complaints.nnRegarding performance- No lag, Camera driver faulty on lenovo website, but no need to install webcam drive, just any software will do, though camera quality is poor, could have been sooo much better.nnDolby Sound is awesome. It gives great effect to hear songs. Bass is not much . But sound is crystal clear at medium volume.nnIts G500s series lappy, s denotes 'Slim' and yeah,, the laptop is really very slim and lite weight. Its so lite, that You cant make out it is a power filled system with i5, 8gbRAM,2gb nvida and 1TB HDD.nnSome Consn1.Looks are straight and simple. No-Nonsense looks. Matt finish with texture.plain Black. No complains, but come-on .. its a Gaming Lappy! We can have something like XPS... Not whole but just something.. ;)n2. I wondered where lenovo might have done cost-cutting. its there. There are just two led indication- power on and charging . Nothing else. I expected wifi, process leds as its common in laptops.n3. No Hardware switch like multimedia keyboard.- for wifi on/off. its basic requirement which we assume to be there and its missing. nAs no indications through led, no switch., Wifi/Bluetooth on/off is tedious process.n4. All 'Function' Keys are reversed, means, you need to press Fn key beside 'cntrl' along with function switch to make it work. nMeans for help, u need to press 'FN+F1' . It will take time to get used to it. nnOverall, its value for money at the price, but still .. some basic functions, which ought to be there in lappy are missing, it makes simple things complicated. :( nnSo minus 1 for that. otherwise awesome lappy to go with.nnAnd yeah- one query- My WD usb3.0 HDD is not getting detected on USB3.0 ports. it works perfectly on USB2.0 port.I have installed USB 3.0 driver from lenovo website. but on 3.0 Port, it gets on, but doesn't get detected by system. anybody faces similar problem or has work around, please reply. :) if possible, shoot a mail at varunt29@ymail.com for workaround!nnnnGuys, an IMP UPDATE - n nThis Lenovo Laptop come under one-year ADP (Accidental Damage Protection) offer by Lenovo. Please visit www.thedostore.com/offer. and select ADP offer. complete the registration by uploading the images as mentioned. nI got my confirmation mail from lenovo just two days back stating my ADP warranty is successful and they will be mailing me the documents hard copy in one month. :) :)

Happy with the product! Concern with Warranty

Ordered and received from flipkart as scheduled. Laptop was great. I haven't really tested out with high resolution games, and going to test it later this week. nnWarranty: I got 3 yrs warranty, 1 year onsite + 2 years carry-in in bill. But when I view the Lenovo warranty book, it says 1 year onsite on parts and battery :( Flipkart initially displayed it wrongly. Checked it Lenovo site and still it is 1 year :( Got very bad feeling about this.nnInstalled Windows 8 and unable to use the whole 8 GB. 5.1GB went to hardware reserved and can use only 2.9 GB. Checked on Google and states that BIOS needs to be updated. No BIOS update is for Windows 8 in Lenovo site :( :( So install win7 to use complete 8 GB and if anyone finds work around, please update. nnPros: nDolby sound & Smart Audio comes with this gives you 3D sound, which is really good. nDesign was simple and elegant. nSlim in size, nothing to complain about it.nnCons:nKeyboard was little concern, where you type in and whole pad goes down. nNeed to install Lenovo drivers for using basic facilities like WIFI, LAN, Bluetooth etc. nNo switch to turn off/on WIFI. No buttons too. nnBattery Normal usage (movies, browsing) 2.5 - 3 hours at maximum brightness. Expected a bit higher than this.nnThough there are few cons, really worth the prize. If you are looking for daily usage laptop, you can choose this blindly without choice. I am not sure about the gaming part as I haven't tested it really. nnDelivery was great, but not happy with the change in warranty.
