A very "value for money" camera, for someone like me who wanted a reasonably priced point & shoot digital with a big zoom. I am yet to use it extensively, having just bought it from flipkart but my first impressions are positive. The camera is user friendly, solidly built, with a metallic body & the colour black gives it a serious, pricey look. The Leica lens, built by Panasonic under licence, is a sure positive. It's amazing how Panasonic has put in a 10x optical zoom into such a compact & stylish body. The battery can be charged easily in camera just like a mobile phone but I wish the adaptor cable was a little longer! Also, the charging port has a metal cover but the hinge itself is of rubber which could have been avoided. One other issue is that the bundled software, which comes in a CD, does not install in a Windows XP PC or laptop unless it has service pack (SP). Since my laptop has service pack 2,I am unable to install & run the software. I hope Panasonic is able to address this issue. Only because of these few issues,I am giving the camera a 4 star rating, otherwise I would not have any hesitation giving it a full 5 star rating.nnAs for Flipkart, what can one say? I had placed the order on 6th & received the product on 10th, well short of scheduled date. The packaging was thoughtful, as always. But then, that is why Flipkart keeps growing from strength to strength.
I bought this point and shoot just to avoid using the camera on my smartphone which is killing the processor cpu.. nnMy first impression on the Lumix DMC-SZ1 look wise and usage and comfort is Gr8.. slim , can be accommodated easily in my Jean pocket or Shirt pocket.. Taking snaps with Auto setting is what i used to do.. it most of the time takes nice pictures.. very less blurred ones..nnSnaps without flash or auto setting -are not coming perfectly.. lots of shakyness. nn1 drawback I noticed is that from the usage perspective .. buttons are bit small and very difficult for people with larger fingers to operate -like the delete button, timer set button etc... nnI have not yet fully explored the camera as I use it not so often.. Just putting in brief.nnBIG +++ -- Battery is good. I took for a weekend 2 day trip with fully charged.. and I took around 200 snaps without battery being drained.. nnThanks to flipkart to ship in time and Got Free Camera pouch.. its awesome and perfect.. will update this review later after exploring it better..
