realme 16T 5G Expert Review Summary
Expert Rating:
![Marcia Sekhose]()
Verdict
The Realme 16T gets a few important basics right, especially when it comes to battery life, which can last close to two days on a single charge. The cameras are decent enough for everyday photography in good lighting, although the lack of an ultra wide sensor makes the setup feel limited. Performance, meanwhile, is where the phone feels less convincing with an underwhelming chipset for the price.
Pros
- Reliable battery life
- Good thermals for gaming
- Large high refresh rate display
Cons
- Underwhelming chipset
- No ultra-wide camera
- HD+ LCD panel
Design, display: Premium-looking, budget screen
+
The Realme 16T has a premium design in multiple colour options. Its large display makes the phone a good choice for content streaming and gaming. The specs seem dated, though, for the price, as most phones in this segment offer an AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution. Its single bottom speaker can get loud, but the omnidirectional sound isn't great, especially at a very high volume.

The Realme 16T's massive 8,000mAh battery is its highlight, delivering multi-day usage. Rest assured, you will get two days of battery life comfortably on regular usage. The smartphone, however, supports only up to 45W charging, which can be slow given the battery capacity.

Cameras: decent but limited versatility
+
The Realme 16T's camera setup is pretty basic, with the 50MP primary sensor doing most of the work. It's decent at best for casual photography and social media. However, if you want a versatile camera setup or better performance, rivals offer better options.

The Realme 16T's MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset is good enough to get through daily tasks like social media browsing, content streaming, and casual gaming. Pushing it through heavy tasks may cause a slowdown. The chipset is also quite inferior compared to what rivals are offering in this segment.

Realme UI 7.0 on the Realme 16T runs smoothly with several features and customisations to play around with. There are also AI features for different use cases like photo editing, writing notes, and more. While the UI is refined, it still comes with one of the most number of pre-installed apps.
