Our take on Realme s latest affordable smartphone, the Realme 3 Pro
Apr 22 2019 By Prateek PandeyThe Realme 3 Pro starts at Rs 13,999 (the 6GB RAM variant costs Rs 16,999) and for the price, it directly competes with Xiaomi`s Redmi Note 7 Pro. Now, pound for pound, the Realme 3 Pro is a better smartphone as it offers a speedier CPU and a more vibrant display. Moreover, I suspect most buyers will probably slap a case on the phone to protect it from accidental damage, making the Realme 3 Pro`s plastic build a non-issue too.As for cameras, both, the Realme 3 Pro as well as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro are brilliant shooters and you can`t go wrong with either one in your pockets. The battery life of the two contenders is more or less the same too, so ultimately, it all boils down to the price. Considering you`ll end up paying the same for both the smartphones, I don`t see why you`d want to opt for one which offers slower performance to boot. While the Redmi Note 7 Pro is a fantastic smartphone, Realme`s latest offering has undoubtedly won this bout. The ball`s in Xiaomi`s court now and I`m excited to see what the company comes up with next.

I bought this phone during the sale at the end of September, so it's been 2 months of use. after discounts and cashbacks i got it for 12.5k for a 6gb+128gb model. overall, i would say it is excellent value for money at that price point - the specs are equal to or better than a lot of pricier phones. pros: great value for money. doesn't look cheap at all, is slim enough and light enough. fingerprint sensor and facial recognition are good and haven't failed me so far decent camera - very good back and front portrait mode, decent night mode, passable pro mode. Overall Speed and performance is very good - no glitches in performance. the 6gb RAM really hits it out of the park. Display is decent, sound is quite good, screen is of a good size; colour resolution is very decent. battery is quite good - so far, one charge lasts me 1.5 days of heavy usage and 2 days of light usage. heavy usage would include camera, messaging, gaming, calls, browsing, social media, et all. There are a number of nifty, well thought out functionalities by default that can make your experience better. cons: the biggest problem with the phone and the reason I've given it 3 stars is the bloatware. there are default apps for photo gallery, gaming and a number of other things that aren't properly usable. the photo gallery app asks for permission to "make and manage phone calls" - no idea why. and if i deny that permission, it doesn't work! if i download another app and make it the default one, the preview function of the camera doesn't work. so that's a major functionality broken! i don't want to give a gallery app phone permission, so every time i click a picture, i have to open the app i like to see the pic - no previews possible. same is the case with the other bloatware - not very usable, impossible to get rid of and breaks functionality if not used. Seriously, without the bloatware problem, I'd have given it 5 stars a much smaller con is the 3.5mm earphone jack at the bottom of the phone. this may not be a problem for everyone, but i drive with my phone upright in the cup holder and earphones connected. Unless i have a phone stand, i cant do this anymore.
