Torn between the HTC Desire and the Galaxy S, I finally ordered the Samsung Galaxy S through Flipkart a while ago and I must say I am very impressed with both the performance of the phone and Flipkart's prompt service.nnI ordered the phone on a Friday night and I was able to pick it up from their Bangalore warehouse the very next evening! It came in very nicely packaged and the customer service was very helpful. They even gave me directions on my way to their warehouse!nnComing to the hardware. This is the 16GB version of the Galaxy S and needless to say, I am very happy about it. It included one headset, charger, USB cable, pouch and Kies installation CDs. The Super AMOLED screen and the 1GHz processor are the absolute highlight of this beast. It has all the usual smart-phone goodies like WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, 5MP camera - the whole shebang.nnAll the software features are pretty much functional. The camera captures pretty good pictures and the HD recording is simply impressive. As is well-known, the GPS is a little buggy in Eclair and the problem got fixed when I switched to Froyo. The Android platform supports most well known media formats out of the box and there are plenty of apps in the Android market to play the occasional obscure formats. In addition to the Android market place you can also download apps from the Samsung App store. The phone also comes preloaded with an Office suite and Aldiko book reader. nnA little technical details for the tinkerers. The phone came with Android 2.1(Eclair) - DDJG4 firmware. Though it felt a little laggy at times - especially when using heavy software like Dolphin HD - it is because of the slightly outdated Eclair firmware. I immediately flashed a custom Froyo ROM and applied a few lag-fixes and it was good to go. This phone has the hacker's dream hardware, though I must warn that the 3-button recovery has been disabled by default in the batch of Galaxy S that Flipkart sells. But there is a simple fix for that in the XDA forums. So please get the 3-button recovery working before you decide to root it or flash custom ROMs.nnSome of the downsides of the phone are the lack of an LED flash and a not so impressive battery life. The 1500 mAH battery lasts for 1-1.5 days depending on heavy or moderate usage. nnAll in all, thumbs-up to Flipkart and Samsung. I am very content with my first Android smart-phone and I must say it really is smart!
iv'e ordered this phone couple of days back and just received it today.im quiet surprised by the time it took for the delivery and i rate 5 star for the service.the price quoted for this phone here in this site is the best deal u'll ever get anywhere as i did a lot of research.regarding the phone, its simply amazing.the super AMOLED screen and the 4"screen is just a pleasure to work with beside the superfast processor.its my first android phone and im very happy that i own one.i would highly recommend this phone to those who are looking for a smartphone with a budget of around 20,000.thnx samsung and flipkart for leaving me happy..
