Gigabyte has launched its Z890 Plus Series motherboards in India, which support Intel’s Core Ultra 200S Plus processors. The Z890 AORUS ELITE DUO X leads the series. It also includes ELITE, EAGLE, and FORCE models. Catering to both mainstream gamers and performance-focused builders.
The Z890 Plus Series is now available in India in ELITE, EAGLE, and FORCE versions through local retailers and online sellers. Pricing has not been officially announced and will differ by model and sales channel.
D5 DUO X and CQDIMM: memory without compromise
The flagship Z890 AORUS ELITE DUO X and Z890M FORCE DUO X WIFI7 feature Gigabyte’s D5 DUO X technology. This allows for a full 256GB memory capacity using just two 128GB CQDIMM modules. CQDIMM is a new DDR5 standard that includes a built-in clock driver. This design maintains signal integrity at high frequencies. It enables high capacity and speed without the stability issues typically seen in fully populated DDR5 setups.
Gigabyte combines an optimised PCB circuit design, fine-tuned BIOS, and careful voltage and timing management. This helps reduce memory channel loading and keeps signals stable at high speeds. The result is DDR5 operation at up to 10266 MT/s, achievable with Ultra Turbo Mode at the click of a button.
Ultra Turbo Mode: three tiers of one-click performance
Ultra Turbo Mode is a BIOS-level feature that provides three performance presets. Intel 200S Boost is enabled by default. It is supposed to offer immediate gaming improvements through optimised CPU and memory settings. Brand says Turbo Mode enhances core behaviour and memory performance for better frame rates. Extreme Mode maximises system performance for demanding gaming and benchmarking. Gigabyte claims there can be up to a 40% performance boost at the highest setting, based on internal tests with specific configurations. Independent validation will be needed to understand this figure across various workloads.
Build quality and usability refinements
In addition to performance, Gigabyte has made several practical upgrades to the Z890 Plus Series. A reinforced UD base plate increases structural strength and protects against accidental PCB damage during installation. DriverBIOS includes a pre-installed Wi-Fi driver. This allows for network connectivity on the first boot itself. Without even needing a separate internet connection to download drivers. This small but helpful feature enhances the experience for new builds. A Rear EZ-Button offers easy access for troubleshooting. Alongside maintenance, while keeping the front panel tidy.
