[Exclusive] Huawei to debut new smartwatch in India with built-in blood pressure tracking

Highlights

Huawei continues to be relevant in the smartwatch market in India, and it’s reportedly planning to launch a new wearable soon. Huawei’s upcoming smartwatch in India is capable of measuring blood pressure directly from the wrist, according to industry sources. A teaser creative circulating online shows the silhouette of a smartwatch alongside an ECG-inspired pulse line and the tagline, “Blood Pressure Monitoring on Your Wrist – Coming Soon.”

This development hints at the arrival of Huawei’s most advanced health-focused wearable yet. Global markets have already seen the Huawei Watch D2, a smartwatch boasting medical-grade certification for blood pressure tracking. The Watch D2 launched globally in September 2024 at EUR 399 (around Rs 41,000). The teaser suggests the same model or a close variant could soon debut in India.

The Huawei Watch D2 can measure your BP at regular intervals, and on the go as well. You can set it to measure whenever required like when you’re at your desk, watching a movie, or fast asleep. In addition to this, the Watch D2 is also capable of providing your ECG report, and A-fib alerts so that you can track your heart health. The Huawei Health app gives you detailed reports of all your health and fitness measurements so you can keep track of them.

Huawei’s technology could set a new benchmark for fitness enthusiasts, health-conscious users, and those managing hypertension. However, they won’t be the first to introduce this feature in India, though. Samsung already offers blood pressure monitoring for the Galaxy Active2, Watch3, and later models. Apple also recently introduced ‘Possible Hypertension Detection’ feature with WatchOS 26 to monitor blood pressure levels for Watch Series 9 or later, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later.

Huawei hasn’t yet officially confirmed the Indian launch date or model name, but the teaser strongly suggests an announcement is imminent. With global interest already high for this category, the brand’s move could signal renewed competition in premium health-focused wearables.
