Realme has announced a major partnership with Japanese camera specialist Ricoh Imaging. The collaboration, four years in the making, will be officially launched on October 14th in Beijing, China, and aims to bring advanced photography features to realme smartphones. This strategic alliance will debut on the upcoming Realme GT 8 Pro.
Both brands have released a video titled “4 Years in One Snap,” highlighting their joint work and teasing the first co-created device. Realme and Ricoh say their partnership addresses user demands for more authentic and individual photos, moving away from generic hardware and heavily filtered images. The Realme GT 8 Pro will showcase co-developed innovations in camera technology, colour science, and a custom user interface inspired by Ricoh’s famous GR series, known for its portability and street photography quality.

By combining Ricoh GR’s 30-year heritage and Realme’s focus on the needs of young people, the GT 8 Pro aims to make professional-grade street photography accessible to everyday users. With this launch, Realme and Ricoh hope to inspire the next generation to capture life authentically through mobile photography.
In line with this announcement, the Realme GT 8 Pro is expected to offer major camera upgrades. According to a recent leak, the Realme GT 8 Pro will feature a 1/1.5″ type Sony Lytia LYT-700 sensor for the main camera, a 200MP telephoto lens, and a 1/1.56″ type Samsung ISOCELL HP5 sensor. The smartphone is expected to offer better zoom capabilities than the Realme GT 7 Pro, which supports 3x optical and 120x digital zoom.

Realme GT 8 Pro is the brand’s upcoming flagship device. It’s confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, and is even claimed to launch as the first phone with this chipset in India. Realme GT 8 Pro has also been teased to feature interchangeable camera modules. The overall design is varied, featuring a circular design, a square design, and one that resembles a robot’s face. This seems like an interesting concept, but we’re yet to see how it will look in the final product.
Realme hasn’t revealed the GT 8 Pro’s launch date yet, but it’s expected to be revealed soon.
