Simply Superb

I refrained from writing a review for a month since I did not want my initial excitement of buying a 65" 4K TV for 1.2 lacs to cloud my judgement.nnNow that I have owned this TV for a little over a month (and know my way better around the positives and negatives), it seems fair to review it in a balanced fashion.nnFirst of all, let me begin by saying that I live in Chennai and it was near impossible to find this TV for delivery to Chennai. Luckily, one night (at around 1:45 AM... yes I was that desperate) I saw one piece was available and ordered it immediately. This was a saturday morning.nnI was pleasantly surprised that the TV arrived on Sunday morning at 10:30 AM. What was even more amazing was that I got a call at around 10:15 AM from the installation team saying that the TV is on the way and they will reach my place for demo/installation by 11 AM.nnThe TV arrived in pristine condition and the installation was done by 11:15 AM. One word of advice to future buyers is that you should never open this TV out of its box until the installation team gets there. If there is any problem with the TV (physical/manufacturing defect etc) and you have opened the box already, then you're in trouble !!nnMoving on now to the TV,nnAt 1.2 lacs for a 65" 4K TV, this is about the BEST deal you can get in this country as of now. nnVU have been exclusively in the display panel business for some time now (unlike other brands like Micromax), so you can be sure that they know their stuff.nnWhen you turn on the TV and begin watching, you will know this to be true.nnSetup is a breeze, though an additional keyboard will probably reduce your operating time drastically. Given that this is a smart TV (with built-in Opera and Youtube and Netflix), you'll be needing a physical keyboard to make life easier. (Not that you cannot live without it)nnI will not get into the technical details of the TV - like refresh rate, contrast ratio, pixels etc. Coz these are terms that companies use to promote their TVs and Im not here to do that.nnI will tell you this - the picture quality is mind-blowing. The TV upscales anything you play on it to 4K. That doesn't mean you will get crystal clear SD content - upscaling can only work so much you know !!nnBut when you play 720p content on it, it does a pretty good job upscaling. 1080p looks even better. nnAnd when you play 4K content (i have a few sample videos as well as the built-in Netflix) you will know where every single rupee of that 1.2 lacs that you paid went. And believe me, you will be happy you spent it !!nnI have compared this TV to a 42" Sony Bravia 1080 TV as well as a 55" Samsung 4K TV and I can tell you that the picture quality is on par with Sony at every turn (Samsung doesn't even come close to this TV). Maybe it has something to do with the A+ grade panel that VU is offering, but honestly that is only my guess.nnFor those of you wondering if this TV is good for gaming, I have connected my PS3 and my PS4 to it.. and trust me you won't stop playing !!!nnThe TV has enough HDMI ports to make sure you never run out of connections. What really impressed me is that this TV has 3 USB ports, all of which can be used for playing media.nnI have 3 NTFS formatted 1TB external hard drives loaded with movies and TV shows that I have downloaded over the years. I plugged them all into the TV and am now able to watch all my downloaded content upscaled in 4K (once again, for fullest clarity, your content has to be 720p minimum). nnThe built-in media player easily plays avi, mp4, mkv files. Dolby Digital Plus is an issue - sound is not supported (probably coz the latest Dolby and DTS sound formats are chargeable to device providers), but maybe they will fix that with a future firmware update. But honestly its not a deal breaker. What really was cool was the speed of recognition - a 1TB hard drive is recognized and loaded by the media player in under 20 seconds after plugging in. I have a dedicated KDLinks HD720 3D media player which takes almost 90 seconds to do the same !!nnSound quality is good - nothing to blow your socks away, but good enough for you to not invest in a dedicated sound system (unless course you want 3D surround sound)nnI have set this up in my bedroom, so typical viewing distance is around 8-10 feet, but that doesn't hurt my eyes or give me a headache. nnPlease note that THIS IS NOT A 3D TV. Personally, I don't think its an absolute requirement coz honestly, who watches 3D all the time???nnAll in all, I would sat that this is definitely a must buy if you're in the market for a 55" / 65" 4K TV without 3D. nnPerhaps the other manufacturers can learn a thing or two from VU about how to provide a Grade A product at an affordable price (Usually 65" 4K TVs are priced around 3.5 lacs)

Great large screen TV for the price,

Pros Great large panel for the price Good picture quality Can stream Netflix in 4K on the pre-installed app. Built-in WiFi can handle even 4K streaming + there in LAN port Ultra fast delivery and installation the very next day Works with Apple TV / Android TV at 1080p Works with PC @ 4K provided your PC supports it Simple yet stylish looks Overall great value for money Cons Youtube app stuck at 1080p and not 4K Software and Apps are buggy and still needs some work and lack of 4K content except Netflix The TV is huge and prone to reflection esp lights on wall. 4K is limited to 3840x2160px @ 30Hz from my attempt with Nvidia GTX 980 Ti

4K UHD TV But Not So Smart

This is a good tv when it comes to the 4K and stuff. But its not a good smart tv. It doesn't run a OS like Android. So you cannot install Android or other full fledged apps in the TV. Basically the TV has a HTML5 browser and all the apps that comes with it basically HTML5 apps.nnI would rather would have bought a full fledged 4K TV had I know this earlier. I am not got to live with a big not so smart TV or spend additional money to buy Android TV or Apple TV to make it really smart.
