Verdict

The Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro is a great device, which has all the features that one desires to have in mid-range. The strong configuration is capable to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without any issue. Be it graphics-centric games or high multimedia consumption, the device does not compromise in any field. Coming to the camera front, it produces detailed and bright pictures as one expects from the Chinese giant. Giving a prolonged usage experience with the high capacity of a battery, it only lacks storage expansion.

Display and Design

The Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro bears a 6.39-inch AMOLED display, which comes with a complete bezel-less finish that renders panorama view along with a stylish aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It has Corning Gorilla Glass above the display that acts as a shield against bruises. A screen resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels enhances the visual experience with a sharp pixel density of 403 PPI.

Performance

Driving the system, there is an octa-core Kryo 485 processor setup (a 2.84GHz single-core, a 2.42GHz tri-core and a 1.8GHz quad-core), which is seated on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip and delivers a powerful performance. A 6GB RAM and an Adreno 640 GPU handle heavy multitasking and games that demands good graphical effects.

Battery and Camera

The Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro is equipped with a 4,000mAh Li-Polymer battery, which keeps the entertainment going on for long hours. Also, the device supports QC4+ fast charge protocol that assures up to 58% charging in just 30 minutes.

Speaking on the optics front, there is a triple rear camera set up having a 48MP main lens, 13MP super wide-angle sensor and an 8MP telephoto lens. The combination is capable of clicking mesmerizing images with bright and detailed finish. For the selfie freaks, there is a 20MP front camera, which can record full HD videos at 30 fps speed.

Storage and Connectivity

Moving to the storage department, it houses a 128GB non-expandable storage. The Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro has a wide range of connectivity options including 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, USB type-C, Mobile Hotspot.

Redmi K20 Pro review

The K20 Pro is the new benchmark for the affordable flagship category

Jul 17 2019 By Nitansh Rastogi
PROS
  • A stunning design with an all-screen fascia
  • Killer internals
  • Versatile rear cameras
  • Powerful battery
CONS
  • Selfies look quite artificial
  • Low-light imaging performance could've been better
  • Suffers from heating issues
Verdict

There are some movies that you know would be a hit even before release. Similarly, I believe there are certain smartphones whose fate can be decided before they reach the shelves. And undoubtedly, the Redmi K20 Pro is one such smartphone. The fact that it`s been getting huge consumer interest even before its India release date was announced is a big testament to that and if you have any doubts as to why, then just glance over its specs sheet. The K20 Pro offers everything you`d ask for in a flagship smartphone, and then some more... and that too at a price that you won`t baulk upon. The POCO F1 filled the void left by OnePlus (when the latter moved up the price ladder), and the Redmi K20 Pro does exactly the same... with oodles of style this time around.

You don't need to enable VoLTE. Insert the Jio (VoLTE enabled) in any slot. By default, VoLTE will be active. If it is not, you can change the network preferences from Network option in settings.

    1. Go to Settings > Call Settings (Sim and Network)
    2. Tap Cellular networks > Enable Voice over LTE On/ Off.

Alternatively, you can follow a much easier way:

    1. You can simply dial *#*#4636#*#*
    2. Choose Phone information.
    3. Click " Phone Information" and Toggle VOLTE Provisioned.
    4. Restart the phone and you are done.

No, Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro does not support 5G. 5G is pretty new technology in the market, and very few mobiles support 5G.

Well, sometimes you watch some movie and you want its tune as your ringtone. Happens right? It happened with me last when I watched Sherlock. Remember that violin tune.? Yes, so I got the tone and copied it to my phone by simply mailing and downloading it to the email ID configured on my phone.

    1. Once there, navigate to Settings
    2. Open the sound section
    3. Find Phone Ringtone option and open it
    4. Select local ringtone and select the ringtone which was copied
So, you are done. Each time your phone rings, you listen to your favorite tune.

You can follow the below mentioned steps to save battery:

    1. Turn off notification from less used apps:

Real notifications are handy in some cases like email. But there is plenty of less important app that wants notification permission. Turn off those notification permissions. To do this Go to settings> Notification and status bar> App preferences. Choose and set important push message such as WhatsApp, what are enabled and disable other apps which you don't use often.

    2. Turn off GPS:

GPS is another battery draining cause. Many apps request location permission using GPS. Turn it off to save your battery. You can use Wi-Fi-based location rather than GPS

    3. Enable battery saver in Security app:

In MIUI 8 security apps comes with lots of feature including battery saver. Enable battery saver in security saver to get ultimate battery experiences.

    4. Set/Adjust Screen Brightness:

Automatic Brightness: It is a good choice for adjusting screen brightness. But setting a constant brightness also save battery life. To set constant brightness Personally I prefer constant brightness and you can access them in Settings> Display> Brightness level.

    5. Turn off vibration on press:

Every time you press on phone display it makes vibration. It is obviously power consuming. Turn off vibration on press to prolong battery life

    6. Turn off Wi-Fi:

Turn off Wi-Fi when not needed. It is not mandatory to turn on Wi-Fi 24/7. It consumes huge battery.

    7. Turn off Sync:

Syncing is also drained battery. Though it is important for apps like email but turn it off when not needed. You can turn in off in Settings>Sync.

    8. Turn off excessive vibration:

Vibration kills your battery life. Try to avoid vibration mode. For app notification, you can turn it off in Settings> Notification and status bar> App notification> Choose only apps you want them to vibrate.

    9. Turn off auto update:

Apps like Google Play store and app store constantly connect to the server to check for the updated app. This process drains battery fast. Turn off auto update to prolong battery life

    10. Shorten Screen Timeout time:

Screen consumes huge battery. You can save some charge by shortening screen timeout time. Head towards Settings> Lock screen and password> Sleep and choose the time you prefer

    11. Use static wallpaper instead of live wallpaper:

You can save some battery by shortening Use static wallpaper instead of live wallpaper Try to avoid live wallpapers.

    12. Turn on Airplane Mode in low signal areas

Phone consumes most battery in week signal area. So, turn on airplane mode when the signal is too poor.

    13. Keep phone updated:

Updated ROM comes with optimization and bug fixes. So, keep your phone updated to prolong battery life.

    14. Turn on Power saver mode:

You can simply swipe the notification bar and turn on the battery saver mode so that the battery usage is optimised.
