I wanted a laptop with good processing power for some graphics work..I went for this laptop...only hitch was it did not have windows (Till now I am have used only Windows..It comes with a Linpus linux which is a DOS based linux...I tried installing linux mint but it was not shutting down and I had to force shut down it. Next I tried Zorin-6 OS which is also based on Linux Ubuntu..I struggled a little with Graphic card installation and wireless card speed but once installed..it is working great..I am loving linux..it is very user friendly..once you get the initial configuration right...So here is how to get the initial set up right... A) Download Zorin OS installation file (free) from website and copy it to a dvd or a USB (Note: You will need to make the DVD or USB as bootable. Zo go Zorin website for further explanation) B) Zorin OS detects your internet (wired or wireless automatically). C)After first startup..Download the AMD Radeon HD 7470M driver for linux from AMD Support website. Go to google and follow the instructions on how to install the AMD Radeon Graphics drivers in Ubuntu based Operating system (If you don’t install the graphics driver, you will face difficulties in starting the computer for the second time) D) To make the wireless run faster type in the following command in the Terminal (In Zorin,terminal menu can be found under Start(zorin symbol)-->Accessories sudo -s echo "options ath9k nohwcrypt=1" > /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf And you will be all set to go...Zorin is great OS..just like windows 7...and its free..and it has an the ubuntu software stores where you can download many softwares (games, office, Graphics etc) for free..Just search zorin os in youtube for more details.. I feel great now for not only saving bucks for a non-windows system but also a much better OS (with respect to Virus protection, Stability, User friendliness and Load on RAM/CPU)...I guess this is called "aam ke aam, guthliyon ke daam). Some drawbacks... A) Earlier while I was experimenting with linux mint...I accidentally changed the BIOS..the BIOS menu has no longer comming up when I hit F2 button so that I can insall the Os withing DVD or Pendrive....I got scared..luckily I google and found that the solution was just to remove the battery and replace it..that reset the BIOS. B) Get ready to do some googling if you want to run advanced applications and addons ..Eg..If you want to use a digital pen..
i bought this laptop not from flipkart, as they didnot have stocks during my purchase..nlet me tell, this laptop is a great value for money because i found no other brand offering a AMD Quadcore with 1.5GB graphics at less than 30K.. am a graphic designer and i have a great experience so far.. i travel a lot and this big one of 15.6" screen gives just amazing battery backup, i get almost 5hrs on full usage.. i can run Autocad, Photoshop, 3DHome, browsing, chating, a bit of gaming all at a time and datz just an example for great Multitasking..nAll-in-all the best buy at this price..!
ACER AMD APU QUAD CORE which comes with 4 CPU cores & 192 Radeon cores works on 35W, with this battery backup will be more and the power consuption will be less.......A dedicated 1GB Radeon graphics which will give video & Pictures smooth,fast, clarity with HDMI....totally a best laptop at a decent price,when compare to competation it is lesser than 4K...
Hard Disk transfer rate is bit low compared to other A8 chips..... But Can let go for other good things.... Windows rate it 5.6 which is pretty decent... Graphic Card helps for good gaming..... Battery life is around 3 - 4 Hours for normal use & 2 - 2.5 hours for gaming.....nCharger connector is towards left which was surprising.... webcam quality not that good.... But again not bad at all for this price..... its a cheap deal for gamer & normal web user.... I highly recommend this to all those student gamers who want to buy a decent laptop for gaming & normal use but have light weighted pockets..... Go on guys... this is your deal....
