I am one of those who wanted to be part of the 'Apple' ecosystem for a long time. Therefore, this time when I was changing my ageing laptop I thought of going for a MacBook. Well! for a regular PC/ Windows user the switch-over was bound by skepticism and apprehension. Finally, I made up my mind and gave order through Flipkart. The product was delivered well before time. Kudos to Flipkart team for yet another on time delivery, which has become their USP! My review on using the MacBook for well about a week is as under :- Battery - Lasts on an average for nearly 11 to 12 hours post full charge (of course this also depends on the kind of applications that are run). This is the uniqueness of the product which makes it well ahead of other competitors in the market. Portability - Amazed by the slimness and weight. Can be compared to a tablet rather than a laptop in terms of its portability. Build Quality - Elegant and sophisticated. Will definitely grab attention and envy of your neighbour! Display - I think the resolution of 1440 x 900 on a LED backlit is very good and eye pleasing. Of course those who can shell another 40 to 60,000 bucks can go for the Retina based MacBooks. Performance - Damn impressed. Very quick start up and shut down. All flash architecture makes the machine incredibly fast. Overall a worthy buy for the price!
I purchased this gorgeous intersection of art and technology from Imagine Store in Gurgaon (Sorry Flipkart - next one's from you!) I bought this machine because I wasn't interested in spending my money on Windows 8 in 2013. As a 17-year Windows user, it was a HUGE move that I still wasn't sure of even as I was paying for it. But, once I started using it, magic started happening within 2 weeks... I just couldn't (and now just can't) go back to use my other Windows i7 laptop. The truth is that the amount of time it took for the Windows machine to fire up, connect to the Internet, and fire Photoshop, I've already worked on a couple of images on Photoshop on my gorgeous MacBook Air after waking it from sleep (because its Always ON!) It fires up in literally 2 seconds. Firefox, Photoshop, MS Office etc open in less than 2 seconds. And, Windows will perhaps NEVER be able to live up to Mac's gorgeous fonts... Other awesome wins on my MBA include iMessage (syncs seamlessly with iPhone and iPad); iMovies, QuickTime, FaceTime, iTunes, iWork - ALL FREE (included in purchase price). iTunes on my MBA 13" is the perfect companion for my iPhone, iPod and iPad. It takes away the need to backup those devices OTA on iCloud. About 6 months into using my MBA, I realised I haven't used my iPad for over a month. That's when I realised that my MBA's super-light weight, protability, 13" screen, back-lit keyboard, always-connected to Wi-Fi, and wake-from-rest in 2 seconds has kept me away from my iPad - to the extent that I've now bequeathed it to my son - and haven't missed a heartbeat... And, the most important feature I've kept for last: Battery Backup between 10 - 12 hours without Photoshop, iMovies etc... and between 8 - 10 hours with using these hugely resource intensive softwares. All in all... The BEST laptop money can buy... Beats other copy-cat me-toos by Dell, HP, Sony et al hollow...
The best laptop I ever had and this is also the same thing which my friends say.. This is Ultra light, ultra fast kinda like Beauty and the beast in one !!! The best parts: 1) SSD : I mean the transfer speeds with the Apple SSDs are crazy!!! Write speed is 576MB/s and Read speed is 721MB/s(based on Blackmagic benchmark test), I don't think u can see that level of speed anywhere... because of this speed, the app launch is faster and the boot time is less than 10 seconds with latest Mavericks OS X 2) super light weight: I mean 1.35kg is really light. One can lift the laptop with one finger, I could never do this before. 3) Astounding battery: I use the laptop like really a lot and I got more battery backup than my smartphone!! 2.5 days (with one movie and document editing and browsing over wifi for 3hrs or so)!!! I mean it is hard to drain this Macbook air's battery :) 4) Screen: The resolution of this 13inch MBA is 1440x900, which becomes ~130ppi... 130 ppi is really good enough... some people say it is not retina display and other such stuff, but with Retina display you won't get such good battery backup and this screen is clear enough for others to feel jealous of your laptop ;) What I didn't like: 1) The first and foremost is RAM. It uses 4GB LPDDR3 RAM which can't be upgraded. well for my use, it is good enough but others it might be a little less. 2) SSD can be upgraded to 512GB max, but as usual it is very expensive(last time i checked the Apple guy told me 28k more to upgrade to 512GB SSD. Again, I take my backup regularly using Time machine app so I don't need more than 256GB SSD. My verdict: This is one gorgeous looking laptop, which doesn't have any problems as far as I know. I would recommend to go for it and buy it either in flipkart or in any Apple stores. Given an option I would give 10 stars but not possible.
Got the Macbook Air in quick time. Moving from Windows to Mac, like other reviewers say, it is worth the change. No more messy startup times. Yes, the touch pad needs getting used to, but once you get a hang of it, you will never go back. A note for first time users like me moving to Mac. During initial setup I stumbled as a tap on the touchpad did not cut it. You need to press the touchpad to click. However after setup is complete you can goto Settings and change the setting to allow click on Tap. Overall love the crisp delivery from Flipkart. Was initially reluctant as this was my first high cost purchase on an ecommerce site, but Flipkart did not disappoint.
Once a mac user, is always a mac user. These machines are so addictive I bought a macbook pro in 2011 and now this macbook air Ultimate machines,ultimate performance,at a fair price(if you consider the quality of materials used especially the solid state drive which would solely cost around 30000 in the market) Plus a 12 hours battery backup.......i charge it every 2 days
