First of all,i did not buy this laptop from flipkart ,i bought it for a little higher price but must say i am damn impressed by what this machine can do..Now i ve been using this lappy for a week now and i thought to give a decent review about what really this thing can do ..so.first all im going with the pros pros- 1) A 1.5 ghz quad core AMD processor makes my windows 8 boot up like butter. 2)A 4 gb ram is more than enough to ask in any lappy for this a price . 3)This laptop comes with Sonicmaster audio and it works wonders with audio.. 4)All the parts feel very cool even after a long time of usage also..(i used this laptop for like 5 hrs straight and it didnt even feel warm)..unlike most laptops i know ..they tend to get very hot due to prolonged usage but not this one.. 5) A gr8 resolution and runs HD movies like anything.. 6)A Pretty big screen(15.6) for a laptop of this range.. 7) AMD Raedon graphics do a pretty good job in running games (ive only played gta san andreas and assassins creed brotherhood in this and they worked fine ..no lags) 8)A nice built keyboard and touchpad layout ..touchpad is really responsive.. 9) LED indicators for charging, battery etc Now with the cons 1)Most people are thinking of buying this laptop because they are thinking that this has and AMD processor and can run high end games..pls note -this laptop has only 256 MB graphics card and it cant run high end games ..this is an awesome laptop for everyday use and yes ..u can play games in it..but it is not desighed to run heavy games.. 2)touchpad butttons are pretty hard so i feel quite uncomfortable to press them (i have connected an external mouse for operation of the cursor) 3)This laptop has only 2 usb 3.0 ports ..i am not minding it as i do not connect many devices to my laptop but i thought some people might not like it) 4) Due to absence of usb 2.0 port(s) some compatibility issues may arise..but its not a problem as many usb coming nowadays is usb3.0..which is actually 10 times faster than usb2.0..and till now all my pendrives and usbs are running successfully so i don't think that's a cause of worry.. now some word if advice..this laptop comes with free dos ..no windows ..u have to load windows in ur laptop..and i strongly recommend,specially if u are a novice, not to install windows 7 in this as some issues may arise.. This laptop is built compatible to win 8 .. i booted up win 8 in my laptop and it works like butter.. overall..its an awesome machine for work ,play and pretty much everything you can do with a laptop and i strongly recommend it for any user who is buying a laptop for the first time ..trust me ..u wont be disappointed ..
Little discouraged about pricing , on 8th may'14 the price of laptop was 23990 now it has been changed to 22996 10th may'14, arrr little angry...Flipkart....why...me.... Received the product today, after 4-5 hours of R&D writing the review - Its really a good laptop for everyday usage, - installed windows 8.1 worked like charm - boot speed is real good (max 10 secs) - Loud enough speakers - Loved the keyboard style its smooth, along with keypad (smooth :D) - USB 3 port yoo... - Laptop is really cool, even after constant usage (its a good thing, if u r not laptop user FYI any laptop heats up like anything after an hour usage, specially bad if you're handling laptop on your thighs) - 4GB ram, 500GB hard disk is enough for us (for more get USB 3 external HD) - was being skeptical with 1.5 ghz core, but mind you windows 8.1 is working like charm, tried with opening 4-5 applications at once, didnt hanged up. (for normal users this is great but if u r using high performance applications, then it might not suit you) - loved the laptop charger, somewhere out of the box, very compact and unique (non heavy), cord is also long. - It has slim personality ;) Cons : - There was some issue in installing Windows 8.1, stating MBR and GPT stuff, after lot of search understood at boot change the Removable type media to normal removable media instead UEFI one. - Webcam quality is not upto the mark, it could be better. - due to some reason not able to control brightness of screen (its system control), even with manual intervention not changing (hmm need to research about it) - just 2 USB port... well i am tag multiple devises at once, so con for me, and yeah port are next to each other. - Lappy thrills like anything while reading / writing DVD RW, felt like earthquake to me :D - Asus factory provided DVD is inaccessible from my end, throwing some error of GPT again...arrr this GPT MBR, little tricky more research needed. - Battery backup 3 hours at present, found somewhere low. - I found it light, but my sibling told me this laptop is heavy, consider 2.5 kg of weight (normal for any laptops) not a big deal. overall i am satisfied, this would be my first home laptop, it could be recommended for purchase, but would say check u r requirements and compare it.
Playing Battlefield 4 since last 20 days@ room temperature (That Too on Windows 7 ) Difficult to run Windows 7 as Driver DVD preloaded with Windows 8 64 bit drivers but with Driverpack Solution, you can install all drivers except the AMD Catalyst Control Centre which can be installed using AMD Autodetect utility (else screen Brightness will not work) in Win 7 Ice Cool Technology seems to work as no heat issues even playing BF4 Works flawless in Windows 8 Note That Windows 7 is incompatible unless you are geek Installing Windows 7 using USB is difficult unless USB 3.0 support disabled in BIOS(This Option will be present only if BIOS is updated to ver 303) No such issue with Windows 8 5 stars for temperature and intense Gameplay with no lag
Works well without issues. Touch pad buttons are pretty hard by design and hence much comfortable with an external mouse. the machine does not heat up at all. all the parts feel very cool. Only windows 8 and 8.1 drivers available. If you're looking for windows 7 and other OS, then you'll have a tough time. Ubuntu also found it difficult to install and ubuntu also had issues with audio. Ubuntu LTS 2014.04 might help. haven't tried as it is now running well with windows 8.1. longing to try new ubuntu shortly. Overall great machine for the price.
