Display and Design
The ASUS X55U laptop sports a brilliant 15.6-inch LED display with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. The display is coated with an Anti glare panel which increases its visibility in sunlight and doesn't strain the eyes too much. It is packed in the traditional ASUS style of burnt aluminum binish making it quite a style statement.
Processor and Configuration
The X55U is powered by AMD Brazos dual-core processor clocking a speed of 1.7GHz and is based on the c-70 chipset by AMD. This is augmented with 2GB DDR3 RAM with expansion slots allowing it to be expanded to 8GB. Although being a budget laptop, the graphics on this are amazingly sharp, with a 512MB dedicated ATI graphics card of the HD 7340 series, making this a decently handy gamer.
Multimedia and Storage
The laptop comes enabled with a front camera of 0.3MP resolution. Although, not able to take HD videos, it is pretty nifty and very quick in operation. It comes with a DVD drive attached allowing you to easily store and write DVD’s. A 500 GB SATA HDD takes care of the storage needs and running at 5400 rpm allows it to save battery while still giving a high read write speed.
Connectivity and Battery
Connectivity wise the ASUS X55U packs a punch and has all the latest amenities such as Bluetooth v4.0, WiFi b/g/n, 3 USB 3.0 slots and also 1 USB 2.0 slot, an HDMI output and also a multi card reader to ensure that sharing of data is never a problem. The battery is a decent 6 cell Li-Ion with a backup of about 4 hours with ease.
