Alienware 14

Proud owner of Alienware 14. Bought the i7/8gb/750gb/2gb nvidia765m edition directly from Dell.n2 weeks in these are my thoughtsnFirst line for it is "the laptop is awesome". it is not as heavy as I anticipated. Bulky yes but for the components inside I can't complain. Not even heating as much as I read on a few forums and the fan is barely audible. The body look and feel is out of the world. Palm rest has some brushed rubberised material which does attract a few marks but makes it very comfortable for long hours of work (gaming). The screen is bright and sharp (I keep it at about 30-50% brightness indoors), the speakers (dolby digital) are loud (same 30-50% max). Not sure whether they have an inbuilt woofer (maybe I am now breaking the line between wishes and reality but you never know). The keyboard is awesome to type on and all the keys have curves on them; saving u mostly from finger slips.. The lights are phenomenal and I was actually taken aback with the alienfx kicking in with my first match of LoL.nThat being said.. I do have a minor complains. Its not a deal breaker and most people would not even care.. But again to me it does matter since I am a hardcore Alienware fan. precisely 2 points in 1000s of components put together by you guys.n1. Power brick: Should have been an alienware. Though I do understand Alienware is owned by Dell, I still feel its more of the brand which sells. Similar example which I can think of is Fiat and Ferrari. Fiat owns Ferrari yet in none of their Ferrari cars will you find any component which has Fiat written on it. Ferrari much like Alienware, a brand in itself. The chargers also I believe are not the same as other Dell range of laptops (these are much bigger and have thicker wires). So Dell can't even say they mass produce them. Just an Alien head on the charger would be great.. Having LED for the eyes awesome.. and able to change that.. ok I guess I just kinda missed reality there.n2. Name Etching: Again a very integral part since I first heard of Alienware and a real driving force to actually make me a fanboy. From what I heard and read the logistics and cost was the major factor for discontinuing it. Well I do understand Dell would take a lot of time before they could ship it with a custom plate.. They can send custom plates later (maybe).. If you ask me I am even ready to pay for it.. If you ask me to get it made myself I could; but then it would not be alienware.. From what I could make out its really held to the back cover with 2 phillips screws.. Can be an easy replacement.nApart from these 2 points I have 1000s of other praises for both Dell and Alienware.. If you are a gamer and can manage the finances its one of the best laptops out in India with a very good service team. Till date I have used only Dell Laptops (more than 10 years now) and never ever had an issue which wasn't resolved.. nIf you are a gamer and you are looking for laptops to buy, well I feel your pain. With options like Razerblade and MSI missing completely from India you are left out of choices. I don't think anything comes close to this in the 14" (portable) category. There is another one (from lenovo) which is quite cheap compared to this. My friend owns it and we have gamed side by side (same environment same ambient temperatures). Both laptops got hot to the point where it was impossible to game with them on the lap. On the table however after every 30 minutes of crysis 2 the Alienware was a bit cooler (not by a lot) but got unanimous votes from both of us. nThe 17" category does offer Asus G750 (not ROG edition) but people should first understand. 17" gaming laptops are not portable. They are heavier than stones, so be very careful before buying those. I would again choose alienware because I have had no mention from anyone about Asus support in India. Went around to a few retailers who were like "Asus? What is that?" So again not very sure on how good the services are. I tried calling their toll free number; Line busy for around 30 minutes. I was thinking of buying an Asus Router (n66u) so yes I did try, and finally I gave up and picked up a Belkin. nI know its a very long review and does go around a lot of points. But these are same thoughts that I went through when I was planning on buying a laptop (which I could game on) A.K.A. rig and I believe I have found my perfect love.

Alienware 14 2013 edition

I own this laptop, and no, i did not get mine from flipkart. I saw a few mistakes in the previous review and wanted to clarify. First of all, it DOES come with 8 gigs of ram (although mine is 16gb and it costs more). Anfd no, no blu-ray unless ur willing to pay extra. Battery life is decent for a gaming machine and the system is SILENT !! it does not have a loud cooling fan ( the previous versions did, but this is the 2013 edition ). And it does not get heated up fast either! this lap can take all what u throw at it and do it in Ultra high settings! verdict, no cons and yes....this is the best mid-range gaming lap !

The Best sub 15 inch Gaming Notebook on the Planet

Runs Battlefield 4 on medium to high, on 1080p. nCurrent gen games are a piece of cake.nAnd that 1080p Display is jaw dropping.nnDoesn't run too hot. GPU temps after an hour of BF4 were 62 degrees. And not as loud as the old gen,nnThe best sub 15 inch gaming notebook currently available.nSwap the HDD for an SSD, and it will cut even more noise.nnJust by the way, I got it for 3 grand less from retail. Same specs. So try your Authorised Dell Outlet first.

Fast,Powerful & Well lit.

Dell's new gaming laptops are insanely fast. The new Alienware 14 comes with top-notch hardware.4th gen Ci7,16 gig of ram(yes FLIPKART mentioned it WRONG),Nvidia GT 765M and 750GB hdd.The Windows Experience Index gave it an impressive 5.9(lowest subscore of hdd) and it has also got a Blu-ray drive as far as my knowledge goes.nnPros : Amazing performance, audio output, gorgeous FHD display & CUSTOMZIABLE LED lighting.Dell has also revamped the entire design. The chassis is magnesium alloy with aluminum top.It has a backlit logo, backlit keyboard & for the first time a backlit TRACKPAD!!(All Customizable)nnCons : Its Bulky, steep price, disappointing battery life & loud cooling fan.The downside is it gets hot just after 40-45 mins of gaming & the cooling fan makes noise like a mini jet engine. The battery life is,however, just over two hours of gaming & close to three hours with normal use.nnVerdict : If a gaming notebook is what you need and have money to spare, there's not much else that can beat the Alienware 14.
