Dell Vostro 2420 Laptop (Core i5 3rd Gen/4 GB/500 GB/Linux)

I bought this product from Flipkart a week back and my review is not an indication of the service provided by Flipkart rather a technical analysis of the Product itself. I know individual choice will differ and for few people this is an awesome Product, but not for me! Cons: 1. Don't get lured by the cheap price compared to the offered configuration. The material of the Laptop has been compromised with cheap quality plastics at the base and bezel of the Laptop. So this is not a rugged or sturdy laptop. The metallic strip that you see at the side and front of the laptop is nothing but a cheap paint on the plastic to derive a metallic look. 2. Key Board is extremely cheap quality. A swipe of your nail on the space between the keys would mark a permanent impression. 3. Many people might not be aware that the model available in India is without Backlit Keyboard. I myself realized after procuring this product and am really disappointed. So people who wants to use this for Business purpose, be aware you are blind on the keys in low light or darkness. 4. Very Less space for heat dissipation. So your laptop gets heated up quickly (about 3 hrs of use) and good chances that your motherboard will be damaged very soon! 5. Last but not the least, the most critical drawback!!! Because of the weird design of this machine, it is a complicated affair to upgrade the RAM/Hard Drive. You need to open up the Keyboard which although looks simple, but is not that easy. There are many videos/instructions available on how to do that, but if you try it yourself, I bet your Keyboard will be screwed forever!!. Because of the poor material, a slight pressure with a screwdriver on the hinges will damage the keyboard and hinges. I need to run to a Dell Service Center to do an upgrade which will cost 500/- as service Charge!!! Pros: I don't see any significant Pros with this Laptop. If you want a similar product at this price range, would recommend you Lenovo B490. It comes at almost the same price as this one, but with a 2 GB RAM. I think it's worth to invest another 2500/- for 4 GB RAM and do the upgrade by yourself (Easy on Lenovo!!!!)

I am happy with the laptop. It is working fine. While it is working from morning to midnight but no heat problem.nThe only problem I have is the touchpad. The left key of the touchpad stopped working after few months.
