Filmed in 1984 but was shelved until independent distributor Dakota Entertainment came along and released the film in a limited theatrical run in January 1986, with Samuel Goldwyn handling the film's foreign distribution.
Extras were given free pizza and T-shirts (limited quantities) for their participation.
Filming took place during Spring Break of 1984. All of the students seen throughout the film were extras that were attending the local High School seen in the film.
20th Century Fox, New Line Cinema and Universal Studios all passed on the film. Cannon Films was interested, but they only wanted to give it a direct-to-video release.
