The Whites are so named in reference to Harvey Keitel's Reservoir Dogs (1992) character, "Mr. White".
Despite being the smart one of the siblings, Cob makes several spelling mistakes in his list, such as "aeroplane" and "tatoo", such errors which he does later acknowledge.
"[Nuts laments to his brother Cal after recently finding out he and two of his brothers will soon die due to their father Duke's poor parenting choices] Cal White: Duke dealt us a bad hand, bro. Edward 'Nuts' White Jr.: A bad hand? I didn't even get cards, okay? I got like a bus transfer and fucking coupon for tampons."
"[first lines] Duke White: [in voice over as he walks through an empty but brighty lit carnival midway with a noose around his neck and the other end of the rope tied to a large broken tree limb that he is carrying] The events leading up to my death were a lot like the rest of my life. Things didn't go exactly as planned. Duke White: [still in voice over, switching to an earlier scene of he preparing to hang himself from a tree] If you ask me what the odds in an amateur hanging going off without a hitch were, I'd say about one in three. A few things can happen. Put the noose too high, you swing for hours. Too low, choke for minutes. But hit that sweet spot, the neck will snap just so. One in three. [Duke jumps from the chair with the noose around his neck, hanging for a split second before the tree branch around which the rope is hung breaks, sending him crashing to the ground] Duke White: [catching his breath] Okay. One in four."
