Great Hanshin Earthquake | Post-disaster
Based on the short story collection by Haruki Murakami, "After the Quake" is a four-part anthology series that depicts the lives of different people in the 30 years following the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake of 1995. The stories are not about the earthquake itself, but about the subtle and profound ways it impacted the characters' lives, forcing them to confront their inner emptiness, anxieties, and the surreal nature of their existence.

The series was later re-edited with new scenes to create a feature film, also titled 'After the Quake', which was released in October 2025.
The screenplay was written by Takamasa Oe, who also co-wrote the Oscar-winning film 'Drive My Car', another adaptation of a Haruki Murakami story.
