Akhil Akkineni's much-awaited spy thriller "Agent" has hit the screens, and fans have been eagerly anticipating this film. The story revolves around P. Ramakrishna aka Rickey (Akhil Akkineni), a hyperactive youngster who dreams of becoming a spy. However, after being rejected three times by the RAW, he hacks the system to get noticed by RAW chief Mahadev aka The Devil (Mammootty). The Devil assigns him a secret mission to uncover the plans of a terrorist named God (Dino Morea), who is plotting to destroy India. The film explores Rickey's journey to fulfill his mission, including his interactions with other characters and the challenges he faces along the way. The film's biggest plus point is Akhil Akkineni's wonderful performance, particularly in action sequences. His character arc is well designed and completely different from his previous roles, which makes it a treat for fans to see him in this kind of different role. Mammootty also delivers a decent performance as The Devil, although his character creates confusion among the audience as to whether he is a RAW chief or a villain. Sakshi Vaidya's performance is also notable, although she has very few scenes with Akhil. The first half of the film is engaging, with unpredictable twists and turns, crazy actions, and enjoyable interactions between the characters. However, the second half is a major letdown. The story becomes predictable, and the screenplay becomes slow, which makes it a bit tedious to watch. The climax is also silly and emotional scenes don't work well in the second half. The film's technical aspects are decent, with director Surender Reddy showcasing Akhil's full potential and successfully unleashing the mass angle of the actor. The cinematography by Rasool Ellore and music by Hiphop Tamizha are also okay, but the editing could have been better, and many unnecessary scenes should have been trimmed in the second half.
