Alone is a Malayalam thriller movie that tells the story of Kalidas, who moves into a new high-rise apartment during the pandemic. As he observes supernatural elements around him, he becomes determined to uncover the mystery and solve a murder case. The movie's plot fails to take off and a bad climax doesn't help either. The film has little substance and is invested in telling a boring and bizarre story. The screenplay, too, is a mix of blurry and complex ideas that make it a funny mystery movie, with an animated character who talks like a cult leader wearing beach t-shirts. Superstar Mohanlal's performance is forced and not believable, with the character's every aspect appearing unnatural. The direction, music, and cinematography are all poorly executed, resulting in a movie that fails to deliver any engagement or entertainment. Overall, Alone is a weak attempt at a pandemic-themed movie and a disappointment for those expecting better from Mohanlal and Shaji Kailas.
Shaji Kailas' son Jagan Kailas debuted as an associate director in the film.
Mohanlal is the only actor appearing on-screen.
