IMDb"Andor is a completely refreshing and magnificent show. Everything about the show is brilliant. The acting of all the stars, action sequences, emotional scenes, well written characters, and cinematography is superb. The first six episodes of the show are very slow and the characters motives are mostly unclear whereas the remaining episodes completely pays off all the waiting you did during the first 6 episodes and starts to unfold the mystery that was being created in the first half, it will answer any questions you might've had. The dialogues in the show are very good and impactful. It also includes some real good monologues which helps to make closer connections to the characters. Character development is also nice. Show also includes many emotional scenes so be ready to wipe your tears too. In my opinion, Andor is the best Star Wars project since the original trilogy. Watching this show is definitely worth it. Unlike The Mandalorian (2019), The Book of Boba Fett (2021), and Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022), which used StageCraft to create virtual landscapes and locations, that technology wasn't used in this show. Instead, real large-scale sets were built at Pinewood, and much of the filming took place on real locations in England and Scotland.
The cast and crew would often take lengthy walks to get to a set for location filming. According to Diego Luna, when filming took place in Pitlochry, Scotland, they had to walk up a mountain for hours to set up one shot.
In-universe, Marvaa's home was built out of parts from old spaceships. Fiona Shaw was so amazed by the set that was built for her character that she would often go outside to just stare at it.
Writer and executive producer of the show Tony Gilroy led the re-writes and re-shoots for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), where the character of Cassian Andor first appeared.
One of the decisions made very early of production was that this series would avoid fan service, and that legacy characters and references to other Star Wars stories would only appear if they were necessary to the story. This was because producer Tony Gilroy wanted to make the series feel real, especially by focusing on the lives of civilian characters and on dramatic storytelling.
