Akbar Khan was a assistant to director Mohan Bijlani. Mohan asked him to play a student in the film. Akbar later stated later he regretted his decision.. The film was not a proper debut and he was not ready to be a actor.
After the film N.N.Sippy met Akbar Khan at a party. He told Akbar he wanted to launch him in a film. Akbar did not take Sippy seriously and did not bother to call him. A few months later Sippy met Khan again and asked him why he did accept his offer. Akbar Khan said he was willing to work with him provided the script was good. Sippy told him he wanted to make a quickie and they should start right away. Akbar Khan met Tinnu Anand who had a script with him. But for some reason it did not work out. Sippy asked Akbar what else did he have in mind. Akbar told him the idea of Haadsaa. Sippy liked it but was busy with Kalicharan.But Sippy told Akbar to direct the film himself. Sippy then started Fakira and Akbar knew his project would be further delayed. Then Sippy and Khan were having disagreements on the budget. Sippy wanted a quickie where as Akbar was making a grand film.
Akbar Khan also worked as an assistant director in the film.
