This animated movie marks the first appearance in animation for Red Robin.
In a scene in the Batcave, the heroes are discussing the Animilitia and trading nicknames for them. Flash refers to the criminals as the "Animaniacs" which is a reference to the Warner Bros. cartoon of the same name.
When fighting Silverback, Green Arrow makes a quip that the Animalitia is more like "The Zoo Crew." This is a reference to the 1980's DC Comics series "Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew," which featured animal-like versions of DC heroes.
The metal jaw that Killer Croc has is similar to the one that King Shark had in Batman: Assault on Arkham (2014). Both characters are voiced by John DiMaggio.
"Cheetah: [Nightwing has discovered Cheetah robbing a jewelry store] What's the problem, Nightwing? Gotham only big enough for one cat lady? You'll make me insecure. Nightwing: Why?
