Although this movie depicts the story of Rosa Park's famous run in on a city bus, it was in fact 15 year old Claudette Colvin who actually refused to give up her seat to a white passenger. Because Colvin was a teenage unwed mother, the NAACP decided to use Rosa Parks as the face of the Bus Boycott Movement. Rosa Parks experience was staged to make it so that she was the person that experienced racism on a Birmingham City Bus.
