Jimmy Smits (Elijah Strait) was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York; Caitlin McGee (Sydney Strait) is from the greater Boston area; MaameYaa Boafo (Briana Johnson ) was born in Pakistan and raised in Ghana, West Africa; and Barry Sloane (Jake Reilly) is from Liverpool, England. Michael Luwoye (Anthony Little) is the main cast's sole Southerner, having been born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama; he received his acting degree from the University of Alabama, which is in Tuscaloosa.
