Shyam lives a wealthy lifestyle in London, England, and is considered one of the ten richest people in the world. His father, S.K. Malhotra, was killed, and his mother identified his killer, but before this person could be apprehended, she, herself passes away, but not before asking Shyam to return to India and get married to a beautiful girl. Shyam does return to India, and once there does meet the girl, Radha, of his dreams, but does not know that Radha is a mere pawn in the hands of a group of people, including his father's killer, who are after his wealth and estate, and will do anything in their power to obtain it.

Salman Khan and Sridevi had signed the film before Chandramukhi 1993.But it got delayed for sometime and Chandramukhi released first.
When the film started ,Salman Khan had very long hair. He would tell Sawan Kumar Tak that he looked like a Hollywood star. Sawan Kumar Tak shot for the film for week. When he saw the rushes he was not happy. He told Salman to cut his hair. He was not looking good and his hair look very messy and awkward Salman told him he could not as his other films would get affected if he cut his hair. This is when Sawan Kumar Tak decided to talk to Salim Khan. Sawan showed Salim the film's rushes and told him that Salman's hair needed to go. He was looking horrible. Salim Khan agreed and told Sawan not to worry. Salim called Salman into the room and told him to have a haircut. The next morning Salman arrived on the sets with a new trimmed looked. Sawan Kumar Tak was happy. But Salman never forgave Sawan Kumar Tak for going behind his back and talking to Salim Khan. Salman and Sawan Kumar Tak's relationship remained strained for years after this.
Last time Sridevi and Salman Khan worked together.
Sawan Kumar Tak was angry at Salman Khan and Sri Devi for signing a film called "Chandramukhi".He felt the title was copied from his movie.He was also angry that Chandramukhi released before his film. Many in the industry felt it was karma for Sawan Kumar Tak taking Subhash Ghai's title Khal Nayak and copying it into Khal Naaikaa.
Lisa Ray was approached for the film but turned it down.
