In 2011, as an April Fool's Day joke, the Criterion Collection, the USA's most prestigious distributor of home video, announced that it was releasing a special-edition DVD and Blu-ray Disc of the film with spine number 573. It was later assigned to The Music Room (1958). C.H.U.D. did however receive a special edition Blu-ray release from Arrow Video in 2016.
This film's two main actors, John Heard and Daniel Stern, would later go on to play roles in Home Alone (1990) and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992). Unlike in "C.H.U.D.", they did not share any scenes in the Home Alone films.
