TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Director Jon Favreau was constantly harassed with demands to shoot or convert the film in 3-D, but he held his ground, claiming Westerns should only be shot on film.

Daniel Craig was chosen because of his distinct likeness to Steve McQueen, who starred in The Magnificent Seven (1960).

When the sheriff pulls Jake Lonergan's (Daniel Craig) wanted poster off the wall, the poster underneath is of director Jon Favreau.

Robert Downey Jr. was set to play Zeke Jackson (a "former Union army gunslinger"), but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Within a month, the character was re-named Jake Lonergan and re-written to be an outlaw, and Downey Jr. was replaced with Daniel Craig.

Daniel Craig recommended Eva Green for the role of Ella after working with her in Casino Royale (2006). Eva turned the role down.

Popular Dialogues

"Jake Lonergan: I've been shot. Meacham: Only two kinds of men get shot: criminals and victims. Which one are you? Jake Lonergan: I don't know. Meacham: You got a name, friend? Jake Lonergan: I don't know that either. Meacham: Just what do you know? Jake Lonergan: English."

"Doc: It's my fault she got took. I never should have taken her to that town. Meacham: No, no, no. Not your fault. You'll get her back. You're setting things right. Just got to have faith. That's all. Doc: Faith. Yeah. God's been real swell to me. I don't mean no disrespect, preacher, but either he ain't up there or he don't like me very much. Meacham: Surely you don't expect the Lord to do everything for you, do you, Doc? You got to earn His presence. Then you got to recognize it and then you have to act on it."
