The theme song of this series is like a musical palindrome. It sounds the same when played backwards.
Each season one episode is named after a tarot card.
Paul Rhys, the actor playing Vlad, actually portrayed Leonardo da Vinci in the series Borgia.
According to executive producer David S. Goyer the title sequence was planned to run thirty seconds and Bear McCreary created the title theme accordingly. However, after Goyer heard the music, he asked McCreary create a longer version of the theme. The producers then decided to use this longer theme and to change the title sequence to accommodate the longer theme music (this required some already locked episodes to be reedited to fit the time frame).
Once Starz announced that there would be no fourth season, the crew returned to set for reshoots, designed to give the series a more definitive ending.
