TRIVIA

Trivia

Jerry Lacy, Lara Parker, and Kathryn Leigh Scott all appeared on the cult soap opera Dark Shadows (1966) together. Ansel Faraj has been a fan of the show since childhood.

Ansel Faraj's first choice for Dr. Mabuse was always Jerry Lacy, however Camden Toy, Jim Storm, Patrick Bauchau, Angus Scrimm, and Robert Englund were offered the role, and Terence Stamp, Malcolm McDowell, and most interestingly Bill Murray were considered.

Madame Von Harbau, Madame Carrozza, and Madame Hecate's roles were written with Kathryn Leigh Scott, Lara Parker and Jessica Harper in mind, and while Kathryn Leigh Scott and Lara Parker are in the film, the role of Madame Hecate went to Annie Waterman.

Ansel Faraj offered the role of Dr. Mabuse to Jerry Lacy and did not hear from him for a full month. In the meantime, several other actors were considered for and offered the role, and a casting call was sent out for unknowns who could play the role. A day before casting sessions, Ansel Faraj received an email from Jerry Lacy saying he was sorry for the late response, and he was very interested in playing Mabuse.

First film in a planned "Mabuse" trilogy. The story continues in Doctor Mabuse: Etiopomar (2014) and The Thousand and One Lives of Doctor Mabuse (2020). Dr. Mabuse also makes an appearance in Detective Adam Sera: The Long Dream Home (2017) under the guise of 'Doctor M'.
