STORY

Story
Lawyer Jeff Warren takes over a compensation case after the sudden death of one of his legal partners. His subsequent investigations, and growing obsession with the enigmatic Ellen Fielding, compromise his values and his view of himself as a winner. His attempts to solve the complex intrigues lead him to be accused of the murder of Ellen's husband, Harry, and even his longtime partner and friend, Alison, finds it difficult to believe that he is innocent. One of five feature film collaborations of producer Helen Leake and director Craig Lahiff. The titles are 'Swerve' (2011), 'Ebbtide' (1994), 'Black and White' (2002), 'Heaven's Burning' (1997), and the documentary 'Politics, Power, Justice and the Media: Controversies of the Stuart Case' (2010).

One of about seven film collaborations of director Craig Lahiff and writer John Emery now known as Josephine Emery. The productions are: 'Fever' (1988), 'Ebbtide' (1994), 'Strangers' (1991), 'Labyrinth' (1979), 'The Dreaming' (1988), 'The Coming' (1981), and 'The Jogger' (1980). Emery was not a writer but publicist on 'Ebbtide'.

Scriptwriter Bob Ellis is billed in the credits as Robert Ellis. Director Craig Lahiff later said: ''That's what he wanted on the credit. Maybe that's a way of saying he disapproved.''
