TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

All of the music performances in the film are real, played by the actors in character. None are staged.

Neither Emma nor Mr. Knightley are wearing gloves during their dance together while all the other characters dancing are gloved. Director Autumn de Wilde has said that she wanted them to have bare hands. She cleared it with the film's etiquette expert and was allowed to do that because the characters had just eaten dinner where they would have removed their gloves. It added to the sexual tension between Emma and Mr. Knightley during that last dance.

Speaking with The Sun, Anya Taylor-Joy said, "I am the first ugly [actress to play] Emma and I can't do this" when revealing she almost quit her starring role on the first day of shooting. She also added, "I have never and I don't think I will ever think of myself as beautiful. I don't think I'm beautiful enough to be in films. It sounds pathetic and my boyfriend warns me people will think I'm an absolute d*** for saying these things, but I just think I'm weird-looking."

Feature film directorial debut by Autumn de Wilde.

The movie poster (the main one and the ones that feature each of the characters) was shot by the director herself, Autumn de Wilde, as she is also a photographer.

Popular Dialogues

"Mr. Elton: Dearly beloved friends, we gather here, in the sight of God, to join together this man, and this woman, in holy matrimony, an honorable estate, instituted by God, in this time of man's great in-no-cence... Mr. Woodhouse: In-no-cence? Innocence, no?"

"Miss Bates: Mother, you MUST sample the tart!"
