The show was inspired by Max Thieriot's own experiences growing up in Northern California.
Images of Bode's hometown "Edgewater" are of the actual town of Rio Dell, CA 200 miles north of Max Thieriot's hometown of Sebastopol, CA which came close to being destroyed by the tragic overnight massively destructive Tubbs wildfire during a windstorm in October 2017.
