TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Tom Selleck was nominated for Worst Actor at the Golden Raspberry Awards in 1993 for this film but lost out on the Razzie to Sylvester Stallone for Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot (1992).

The picture was a critical and commercial failure at the box office.

Penultimate theatrical feature film directed by Ted Kotcheff whose final cinema movie he would direct would be Hidden Assassin (1995).

Courtney Cox auditioned for the role of Tom Selleck's wife, but lost to Wendy Crewson. Selleck later played a recurring role as Courtney Cox character's boyfriend on Friends.

Tom Selleck blamed the film's failure on 2 factors: it opened the same weekend as the L.A. riots of 1992, and he didn't have his trademark mustache. Director Frank Oz though, one of the film's few fans, cast Selleck (without his mustache) in his picture In and Out five years later.

Popular Dialogues

"Harry: McDonnells! [Sounds like McDonald's] Jon: Hungry, Pop? Harry: Um, yeah."

"Jon: This morning he named every member of his fighter squad like it was yesterday. Mildred: 1943 he remembers like it was yesterday. It's yesterday he can't remember like it was yesterday."
