In August 2020, Ryan Reynolds debuted a movie streaming service called Mint Mobile+, which only streams the movie Foolproof. The service has various categories, but all of them only contain the one movie with different posters.
The movie was not only the widest release of a Canadian movie in history (as of October 2003), but had a record-breaking marketing budget of $2 million.
The website that Rob is logging onto when he finds a diamond in his keyboard is www.heistmania.com. In reality, the site was non-existent. As of September 2018, it's home to an unpopulated Wordpress site.
Despite being the rare Canadian movie to get a wide release and a huge promotional budget, it was a box office disaster, grossing only $200,000 its first weekend.
The license plate on Rob's car is AFYL 983.
"Leo Gillette: I believe this is yours. [holds up Sam's diary containing a record of their planned heists] Leo Gillette: It's an impressive read: bold, yet meticulous strategies. I love the one where you tried to figure out how to pinch the Stanley Cup. It's very... Canadian."
"Stan: Where have you been? You missed the division meeting this morning. Kevin: [to Stan] Uh, I'm on the phone Stan [to phone] Kevin: Go ahead. Stan: Word is you haven't closed a file in a week. What's wrong brainiac? Can't seem to... Kevin: Hey Stan? Eat shit, kay? [back to phone] Kevin: What? Oh nothing, just flushing my life down the toilet."
