The ''cattle call'' casting process on this picture ran for about two and half months across three locations: California, New York City and Paris in France.
For the making of the movie the filmmakers Gloria Katz and Willard Huyck crewed a small production unit of young local French and Parisian technicians and craft-persons who had never actually worked on an American picture before but had experience within the French film industry. These personnel brought a "quick and very free style" to the production allowing the shoot to adapt more easily and quickly to various local changing circumstances which were endemic to the region.
The period of pre-production on this picture was a time-frame of about six months prior to principal photography.
Debut theatrical feature film of actor David Marshall Grant.
Breakthrough international film role of French actress Valérie Quennessen.
"Monsieur Tessier: Are you freaking-out? Last year we had a student freak-out on us."
"Toni: You know, I don't understand anything you are saying. Joel: Don't you speak French? Toni: Not your French."
