Due to problems with the producers, Govinda refused to dub for the film. A dubbing artiste was used for Govinda's voice in the film.
Producer Vinod Verma took producer Allu Aravind to court stating he did not have the legal rights to use the title "The Gentleman" for his Chiranjeevi film. Verma stated the rights belonged to him.
Vinod Verma stated when he signed Govinda for the film in 1986, he gave proper bulk dates. He then started cancelling at the last minute and causing delays. He felt Govinda was a good person,it was his team around him who were a bad influence on him.
Om Shivpuri replaced Amrish Puri.
