TRIVIA

Trivia

Guide was Dev Anand's first film in color.

The movie song "Aaj phir jeene ki tamanna hai" is shot in Chittorgarh Fort, Rajasthan. In fact, the reflection of the heroine on one of the mirrors, during the song, is inspired from the legendary tale of Alauddin Khilji catching a glimpse of Queen Padmini on the same mirror in the main hall.

The movie's song "Aaj phir jeene ki tamanna hai" was shot at Chittorgarh Fort, especially the palace of beautiful queen named 'Padmini' whose beauty has mesmerized the Khijli sultan, Allauddin Khilji. The song and the location depicts Rosie's (the female protagonist) newly found independence. Ironically, the Queen Padmini's beauty led to the downfall of Raja Ratan Singh and his tribes victory only after losing the women in a sacrificial pyre lead by the queen herself.

S.D. Burman fell very sick while composing music for this film. Dev Anand waited for his favorite music director to recover instead of getting a new one. S.D. Burman got better and went on to compose some of his best music ever.

Song Trivia - Mose Chhal Kiye Jaye Haay Re Haay Dekho Saiyan Beimaan - This song has Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma playing the tabla. While he started his career playing the tabla, Shiva Kumar Sharma had given up the instrument to focus on the santoor. It was R.D. Burman who convinced him to play the tabla for this song. He did not play the tabla again for any other Hindi film song.
