This is the only film in the House Party series not to star Christopher Reid and Christopher Martin (I)', who play Kid and Play respectively.
Marques Houston and Jerome Jones were actually in House Party 3 (1994) but did not portray the same characters.
House Party 4 has nothing to do with the first three films starring rappers Kid 'N Play. The writers and producers "borrowed" the name hoping to capitalize on the popularity of the first three films.
This film is completely different from the first three movies. It doesn't mention Kid and Play, nor any of their friends or families, including Kid's wife Veda, whom he married at the end of House Party 3 (1994). The only connections between this film and its predecessors are it takes place in Los Angeles but in different areas, and Jon Jon and his uncle Charles happen to be related to Kid as they share the same last name as his uncle Vester (Harris), even though Kid's last name was Robinson.
