The average episode is filmed in two days.
Based on a successful Israeli TV show.
Gabriel Byrne is the only actor to appear in all 106 episodes of the first 3 seasons. His character Paul is Brooke's supervisor in the fourth season but never makes an appearance.
Glynn Turman and Blair Underwood appeared together on A Different World: War and Peace (1991). Here they play father and son but do not share screen time.
The opening title sequence of the first series of episodes (starring Gabriel Byrne) is a close up of the Tranquil Tide Machine, which "soothes away stress with rhythm, sound and perpetually rolling waves". Dr. Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne's character) has one of these machines in his home office in the first season. It can be seen in the background of some of the sessions during most episodes of the first season.
